Great reaction guys! You guys always bring a smile to my face! I believe this was July 13, 1985. Nobody does it better than Freddie and Queen. From the call and response part to dancing with the camera man he was just the best at what he did! I don't think will ever see the likes of him again!

I was seventeen. I had my first summer job in Soho ( a very trendy area of Manhattan ) Called The Village. I was trying to get home to Brooklyn. In time to watch this performance. I have been a huge fan. Since the age of seven.

In the beginning as he is playing with the crowd , Freddie is actually doing his vocal warmup for Hammer to Fall 😉

I think the guy standing on the side of the stage is Peter Freestone, Freddie's personal assistant. I think that crowding of the camera man is Freddie letting him know that he wants room to use the entire stage so he can better address the members of the crowd. The word is that it was a very hot day, unusually so and the people in that crowd had been standing there since early in the morning, it was now past 6 pm, but they sure livened up for Queen and Freddie. Thank you for your reaction.

Hammer To Fall is one of six songs from Queen’s Live Aid set. The choosing of those six songs has always intrigued me! Hammer To Fall at that time was getting radio play so it makes sense that Queen performed it. Recently, it gained popularity in the popular TV series Stranger Things: Season 2 “The Spy”.

Fireddie playfully cozied up to the cameraman because he was almost certainly pissed off that the guy was getting in his way ( which generally irritated Freddie)

Having worked as stage side security at a number of concerts (sadly not this one), for the most part, you are not allowed to sing or dance along with the music. You are "working" and are expected to pay attention to your job. In many cases, you aren't even allowed to look at the artist on the stage. If you wanted to enjoy the show, you were expected to buy a ticket like everyone else. There are ups and downs of working a concert. I once had a friend who was working with me stage side at a Wynonna Judd concert. She was between songs and he turned and looked up at her. She noticed him looking, came over to the edge of the stage, "gently" kicked him in the back of the head and said, "Turn around and do your fucking job!" and she said it quite loudly. My friend was so embarassed that had all he could do to not dig a hole and crawl into it right there. Of course, on the upside, there are usually a lot of screaming young women who will do "anything" to try to get up on stage, and they don't care who they have to cling onto to get there. ;-p
