The beginning was after she was sexually assaulted by her music producer, and she was in the hospital. The rest is about her struggles to be star, and dealing with her PTSD, after traumatic experience.

The music video narrates the story of her life. She had to overcome her traumatic experience (PTSD) in order to become a star. In one of the scenes, she is on a phone call with her previous label. In reality, LA Reid from Def Jam Recording has openly mentioned that having dropped Lady Gaga was one of his biggest mistakes (the interview is here on KZbin). He didn't believe in her work + her productions. A couple of months later Lady Gaga signed up with Interscope Records (remember that palm of her hand with that text written on it?... Interscope Records. Hollywood, CA 4 pm), released her debut single Just Dance and it went to become a worldwide smash hit.

It’s a song about perseverance and determination really. The video was a surreal retelling of her life before she became “Lady Gaga”. She was s*exually assaulted by her bf and then let go from her record label. Instead of giving up, she reinvented herself and became “Lady Gaga”. At the end she was on her way to Interscope Records and the rest is history 🤷🏿‍♂️

it wasnt ther bf that assaulted her, it was a music producer that she was working under at the time.

"marry the night" -- shes stating shes going to take in all of her past demons and work through them. Shes taking the darker side into herself to become happier overall.

The complexity of Gaga's art is exceptional, especially in this video, she doesn't just give you a song with a background, she teaches you a palette of history and interpretation and conveys you from her grief to her joy. "Marry The Night" is amazing.

This is going to sound harsher than I mean it to. But I'm not surprised that they didn't understand the video especially the beginning. Because they were listening but not listening properly so it was all going over there head and they didn't take it seriously. But they did seem to enjoy it when the music started and she started to sing. Even though one of them sarcastically said that he was really glad that they watched the longer video otherwise they wouldn't have understood the video. But as I said they did seem to really like the song and I really don't mean what I said nastily. Unfortunately I'm dyslexic and can't think of how else to word it I'm writing because sometimes I struggle writing down in words what I mean or want to say so sometimes it seems really harsh and nasty even though I don't mean it like that so fingers crossed you understand and get what I was trying to say/get across and it actually makes sense to you haha

10:02 - I worked on this video (the musical part) the rain was not scheduled she DEMANDED we film through. “It’s free rain! I’ll pay for any broken cameras and lights.” That was a move of a true artist. The video would look very, very different without the weather.

And you guys are spot on on with it being this video being a self directed film about her life up to the beginning of her becoming mainstream. The "breakfast" scene is her having a mental breakdown after her manager called her and dropped her from their label.
