It's because of the legacy of Sir Matt and Sir Bob is why Liverpool and Manchester United are still two of the biggest clubs in world football right now in the 2020s

More often than not, United seemed to get the better of Liverpool in the one off exchanges back in the 80s, but Liverpool always ended up on top at the seasons end. I miss the 80s footy, it was so much more passionate and played in front of 'real' fans. Good days.

United’s League record at Anfield in the 1980s, when Liverpool was the dominant force in English football, was outstanding - won four; drew five; lost one, but although they could ‘win the battle’, they always ‘lost the war’. IMHO a lack of professionalism was at the heart of this - for example later in this season (in January 1984) United drew 1-1 at Anfield (Liverpool was at the top of the First Division, with United second), but six days later lost 0-2 at Bournemouth, who were near the bottom of the Third Division, in the FA Cup.

I remember this Paisley and Matt Busby coming out together on the back of the truck I thought it was brilliant

I do too...on a open top bus wasnt it? Happy days!

The footage is near the start of this video. It's more of a truck than a bus.

This is when I loved british football the most. Class by Bryan Robson at the end of the match with Souness and with the King

Robbo was class. Which is why Sir Bobby Robson loved him so much. Great player and top bloke

Brian Robson he was a great player I think he would’ve fitted in well at Liverpool it’s a shame injuries robbed him of some of his best years as a football fan I always hoped he’d be fit for England

Liverpool did try to sign him in 1979. Him and Souness in the central midfield roles would have been a nightmare for everyone else.
@DaveWallerLFC3 жыл бұрын
Great player, but it would have been a strange signing. A midfield of Kennedy, Souness, McDermott and Case, seen by many as the best in the club's history, didn't really need improving. But I guess it shows the standards at the club at that time.
@anthonymooney86363 жыл бұрын
Dave Waller For me that was the greatest midfield in the clubs history had everything even ALAN Hanson said so
@scherben88703 жыл бұрын
@@DaveWallerLFC He'd have been the ideal replacement for Jimmy Case: a player Martin Buchan recommended Dave Sexton should sign when it became clear Liverpool were willing to sell. With all due respect to genuinely class player like Jimmy Case, Robbo was an upgrade. I'm just grateful you missed out on him and Gazza.
@anthonymooney86363 жыл бұрын
scherben For me Jimmy case was absolute class probably Bob only bad decision letting him go a little bit early but he did it for his own good as I have read he said to Jimmy you can carry on playing Longer he was concerned that every time he saw supporter they bought him a drink plus that incident in Wales was the final straw

David Hodgson had of a lot of ability apparently they kept getting onto him in training survival tactics to see how they will react and he told them to leave him alone at that point Joe or Ronnie said that’s it he won’t make it here

Good cause he looks shit in every upload I've watched during that season. The absolute definition of a nothing player & definitely not Liverpool standard of that time, not even close.
@leebeardshall28882 жыл бұрын
@@swkenny he wasn't a liverpool player Mind you he wouldn't be a good manchester united player either. I think he is a second division player.

He did well in 1982/83.
@markreville69172 ай бұрын
He was very good at Middlesbrough but left Liverpool far too soon and squandered the rest of his career. His best position was right side of midfield not striker because his finishing was not good enough.

In football there are no prizes for hitting the posts, even though that is a lot harder than hitting the actual goal. Desmond Morris should be consulted, what does it mean when "the human animal" have fingers in their mouths?
