Eye-opening. It's really easy to get discouraged but the community of web developers (and aspiring ones) has been incredibly humble and helpful so far. Thank you!

Thanks man, I appreciate the video. Couldn't have come at a better time. University has been a continuous overwhelming struggle where my study habits have changed sharply. As stubborn as I am I've finally accepted I will never know everything there is in Computer Science. My goal is no longer to study and memorize, but to understand the basic concepts. This video really helps confirm my new found motion. Thank you, Barely Surviving Depressed Student

I absolutely love how you explain things in a fun way. The moment when you said talked about how at the lowest level of HW is electricity. Thanks for doing what you do Dave!

Excellent video and tutorial...especially the conclusion. The hardest thing to grasp is no matter how much you learn or where you've learned it, you will never know it all. But that also builds a great community of humble people...and a group of humble individuals can accomplish anything. Thx

Omg thank you so much for clarifying "full stack". It never made sense to me how they're called full-stack developers when they're just a "jack-of-all-trades" web developer.

I think in another video you had mentioned naming peculiarities, such as "engineer". Is the tech industry moving at such a rate that maybe not everyone has a synced up idea of what these titles are, and where they exist in the hw/sw title taxonomy? How does this effect employers/developers perceptions, and are they helping/hindering themselves?
@DaveXiang8 жыл бұрын
These titles are subjective and work to a certain point. If you look at a Google chart, there are probably 20 levels of "engineer" just to accomodate for sheer numbers. At a certain point, you are judged on the value you bring to the table and you will think less about these titles.

Don't be angery about full stack. It's just in different context. I used to be a backend engineer in Nvidia but I knew nothing about web programming. It was referring to physical layout design engineer. And the front-end engineer is who compiles RTL code to gate level netlist which is used by the back end engineer. Now l have switched to back end web development. I think that's a bit funny but nothing need to be angry with.

Hey man, great video that is easy and simple to understand. I think nowadays most comp sci majors jump into the field knowing/expecting too much about application and not enough about the big picture.

Hi Dave. Sometimes when I learn new concept of a technology, I may often sometimes forget it..Do you have some tips on how to remember key concepts for future use? Thanks.
@DaveXiang8 жыл бұрын
I re-read the same things often. It definitely takes awhile. Try to apply your knowledge as much as you can(projects) as well keep re-visiting the reference manuals and reading resources. Good luck

hi bro i have a question there is not cyber security courses in my country so i will have to self taught my self so i have a question . i'm taking a tutorial of kali linux from beginner to expert and i really like it also i'm learning c and will after that learn c++ and also i'm taking the ccna networking and swaetching and after that i plane to get the security ccna but what can you add to my journey and how keep moral up knowing that i'm the only guy around wanting this so i have no one to help me or advice me ?
@DaveXiang8 жыл бұрын
hey man. that sounds really good. Not many people study that stuff and I think it is really valuable knowledge. Just remember, you don't really need a personal mentor or coach all the time. That is why the internet is so good. A book can be your mentor. Or listening to someone you like on youtube can be a mentor. Not many people have the luxury of really having a person to give advice all the time.
@daniellucas51718 жыл бұрын
sure bro thanks for the advice and it' not just about the mentor it's also about not having even a person to work with that makes it harder for me but anyway you didn't tell me what i should do next after learning c and c++ and finishing my ccna exams and hacking course cause it would take me like max 2 mouths to finish with c and c++ and the hacking course from now

Thanks! I use an early 2013 mac book pro. I got the best one at the time. I don't really like the new ones because it's a lot of candy and the raw hardware isn't that much better. I like laptops better than desktops now because I don't play video games anymore.

Whats the difference between a graduate program in software engineering and computer science? Is there really any significant differences? Also, great video man!
@Earlosaur8 жыл бұрын
I would imagine software engineering covers a lot more aspects of implementation and design, where as a regular CS degree remains theory based.
@DaveXiang8 жыл бұрын
Majestic's answer is good. A graduate program in CS would be if you really are passionate about the theory and science of computers. If you want to position yourself to get a job, which 99% times doesn't require intense CS theory, then maybe software engineering would be a better choice.
