David and Patrick A Very Happy Ending

This is my final tribute to David and Patrick's love story. I used the acoustic version of "Lost in Love" by Air Supply. Frankly, I can't think of a more appropriate song I could have used. Simple, beautiful, and the words are perfect for their story. I am sad the series had to end, but I thought the final episode put a ribbon around on all their lives. Well done Eugene and Daniel!

If I may add my own comment about the wedding ceremony, I think it was a touch of absolute brilliance to have Moira break the mood momentarily saying "DAVID", and then seeing David's expression. That was the touch of humor and a break in the serious atmosphere that made the whole thing perfection. But what do I know?

Thank You! this was a truly awesome post. Normally I watch this at home on Canadian TV. Unfortunately I found myself stranded here in the UK, as a result of the Covid-19. I have tried to watch this on UK Netflix and it doesn't have the final series yet, so your post is greatly appreciated as it helps me view the conclusion. I have never had a type, I find myself attracted to a persons personality and attributes. Each time I view this I find Patrick (Noah Reid) ticks all my boxes. I can't help but envy David. Noah Reid played his partner so admirably I would love to have a partner like him in my life. This show was, and still is, one of the best! Every actor was perfectly cast and fit their role amazingly well. Eugene and Dan Levy collaborated so great. Dan, I don't understand why you need so much therapy... You have loving and supportive parents, an amazing career, a fan base that is worldwide, and an apple tree of low hanging fruit when it comes to men who'd drop everything for the opportunity to have a chance with you. I can't see into your brain; mine tries to kill me all the time. I haven't listened to it much as yet. I saw the movie. Meh. I think Daniel is good enough for top billing, not playing the lead's zany best bud. And the whole movie was a trip to the Hallmark Channel; predictable, a bit strained dealing with gay love dynamics. And Daniel was really playing David. I half expected to see Patrick in one of the scenes. But what do I know? ;)

It's refreshing and encouraging to see a show where the gay characters aren't demonized by religious zealots or harassed, beaten and intimidated by locals in the neighborhood. They live happily ever after, as they say in fairy tales. It's so well written it pulls me in and makes me believe it could really happen. I don't want it to end.

That's about all I could do with the sound. My video editing software is not all that good working with audio levels. I worked a long time to try and make the music soft but loud enough to be heard. Harry Thorpe I felt this scene was unnecessary and only served to make Patrick the butt of a joke on their wedding day. For David to have sex with another person while Patrick was out trying to fix their wedding day, in Patrick’s apartment, when Patrick has never had sex with another man, for David to really think that was what Patrick wanted, to allow Patrick feel that he was somehow responsible and then to smirk about it with Stevie behind Patrick’s back and then to joke about it in their vows. The scene did not make for a “really great last episode” as Dan Levy would put it. Regardless of David’s views about sex, they are obviously not Patrick’s. The last person David had sex with before they were married was not Patrick which I think would be a big deal for Patrick.

@@reneeweisner2385 i think their relationship is a little bit open. Patrick wanted a threesome with David's ex boyfriend. He almost went on a date with another man and david was fine with it he was just worried patrick wouldnt come back. I think now they're secure in their relationships things like that arent as big of a deal to them because they know they're it for each other no matter what. he didnt have sex with the guy it was likely a hand job. People do way worse at their bachelor parties and patrick was also momentarily turned on by it when he asked if it was good. I think everyones relationship is different and they have slightly different rules and boundaries to the ones youd be comfortable with. What isnt a major deal to them is to you and that's fine.

Yes, they danced around it but in the end decided against it. Some fans see what David did as cheating and hated that scene and some fans just thought it was a funny misunderstanding. I saw it as David cheating on his wedding day and it kinda ruined the finale for me. I loved Schitt's Creek and feel bad critizing an otherwise great show. If you found David's happy ending from another man funny (a lot of people did) maybe that's best. Nothing was ruined for you.

Open relationship? I don't think so....Patrick had a fit when David was kissed at the party by another guy. I think what happened was to remind us how self absorbed David can be sometimes.....and that sometimes he's just not all that bright.....I think Patrick gave him a pass cause he realizes this and loves him.
