The moment I realized Patrick was singing “The Best” to David, it literally hit me like a ton of bricks. Until then, I had never considered that song as being particularly romantic but when stripped down to Patrick and his guitar, just wow. When Patrick directs those words to David, you fully realize how much David means to Patrick and the depth of his love for him. It was just one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in television. It was truly the best.

I watched Schitt's Creek initially because I'd seen a TikTok using the audio of Moira's Herb Ertlinger commercial and had watched a clip of Moira calling him a disgruntled pelican (😂😂😂). I didn't go in with high expectations but was absolutely amazed at how emotionally invested I became with all the characters. I never would have ever expected to cry as much as I did watching this show. It truly is an outstanding show and the normalcy with which David and Patrick's relationship is portrayed is top notch.

I love that Dan did not add too much drama to the love story of David and Patrick (as Rachel and Ross) but focus on challenging them to step out of their comfort zone to dive deeper into their relationship: David opens his heart, trusts someone, and even play sport and Patrick comes out to himself and to his parent. Dan is also smart when he never lets anything happens as David plans (the surprise birthday party for Patrick, the way he wants to announce their engagement, and even their wedding) BUT because of that we and David realize that love does not need a perfect plan, love just need a Patrick.
