This song is transcendental. It goes beyond the time when it was written. It's a piece of the "always-present" of human experience. I love this song.

Change is always happening. According to Eastern philosophy, which Bowie was into when he was trying on a hippie identity in his young days, states that the only permanent phenomena is change. Bowie was a deep thinker, as well as being a chameleon, corinthians and caricature.

This song is applicable to any generation, actually! You are around the same age as my own parents, both in their early '60s, but me as a 30 year old, am listening, and love this song What's more, I know teens who listen to this too, so this music must have aged very well And the message Bowie portrayed here is universal, for any generation

I'm not a spiritual guy, but I have had a personal connection with this man on the deepest level one can have with a musical hero. From my childhood days when my dad would put on the Ziggy Stardust album to present, I get the chills when I listen to him. Like so many other fans, I was crushed when he left us all.

To me this song is about facing whatever fears you may have in life, whether its something you can or cant control, you have to face it and embrace it because afterall life is full of change and if you arent facing the "strange" to then you will never find your self. Its one of my favourite lyrics, "turn and face the strange" and it means so much to me. Whenever im feeling down or anxious it helps me decide on whats important to me and what will help me be the best i can.

i'm not saying that your interpretation is wrong, in fact most art is free to interpret as you may want, but iirc, David bowie wrote this with the themes because he felt like everyone wanted him to make a specific sort of music, stick to the same rock and roll, but he wanted to experiment and find his own sound. so he's telling everyone to face whats new and not to turn it away.

You might want to do a background check on your new man. He has a long history of physical abuse against his mother, all of his ex's. I was at his house last night after he came to my house the night before made love to me and said he loves and wants me. He was accused of raping a friend before she died.and on his phone he apparently likes them younger since a father had to confront him about exchanging sexual photos with his minor daughter. Rich doent own the trailer. He is only looking for a meal ticket because his current one is about out (his stepdad) and Richard will be a drunk back on the streets but don't believe me I know you already got a taste of his abuse. Only a fool would stay with him

What makes this song so special is it captures perfectly the ambivalence we all have when we have to make changes to our lives and how we cannot go back ("but I can't trace time"). We may try to fake it with small but insufficient ones but to grow we have to face the "strange" (a nice allusion and alliteration to "strain") that change brings. It is up to us to either fake adaptation or embrace it as the only certain thing is that we are going to get older as time passes. Musically it is capture in the unstable opening of the chords and the nice harmonic palette and wide-ranging colors of the vocal delivery in the song (with the influence of the jazz tinged pop songs of Sinatra infusing the song).

I'm soooooo glad (and LUCKY) that I saw Bowie in concert back in 1990 (June 25, The Palace in Michigan). Such an amazing experience. And it was truly an experience. He brought such happiness to my life. THANK YOU David Bowie for the music, and the smiles. May you rest in peace. ❤

The first time I head this song was when I was 12 years old. It was 1996. We had Microsoft Encarta on our computer, it was like a digital encylopedia. I was randomly scrolling through all of the articles, and came across the David Bowie article. I only stopped to read it because we have the same first name, David. The last part of this song was included in the article, the ending chorus. I fell in love with this song instantly because of it. I also remember our cockatiel was walking around on the couch.

'And these children that you spit on As they try to change their worlds Are immune to your consultations They're quite aware of what they're goin' through.' Perhaps we'll always be these children, looking for a way to change whatever it is that troubles our own little worlds. On 3 December 1971, David Bowie released the single "Changes" in the UK. This track, featured on the album Hunky Dory. I was born in 1973 and raised on Bowie. Thanks Mum. My first concert was Ziggy Stardust! (From the womb of course 😉) I remember learning of Bowies sad departure on the 10th of January 2016 whilst I was in Paris for my birthday. It felt like I'd lost an actual relative! 💔DAVID FUCKING BOWIE!❤‍🩹 #HappyBirthdayChanges #DanGerShev
