Such interesting and helpful content Barry - keep it going! I would love to have a 990 myself one day to do up as you're doing as they were one of the best tractors ever made, in my opinion. The quality of engineering in them is second to none. Regards

Cheers Gareth, yes i think your right, I beginning to think about the possible next project after this, I think it's going to be another DB, might try an 880 next we'll see, thanks for watching and supporting Barry

@@manfromthemist1958 Welcome Barry - yes..an 880 would be a thing to do - the DB 3 cylinders also punch above their weight. Regards

Hi Barry, I’ve just found your channel - brilliant! I have a DB880 in similar condition in Australia with plans to rebuild one day, so i’ll be catching up on your vids and looking forward to the rest. Keep up the great work!

Think would try to drill bigger holes,just a mm maybe for bigger pins,but since I don t have it in my hands, its diffi to tell from a video not showing details.The clutch doesn t work anyways,so no harm done.

Hi Claes will have to do some measuring and take some professional advice as to the strength remaining in the casting, don't want this coming to bits at speed due to lack of thichness in the casting, it will cause a lot of damage. cheers Barry

Hi Barry - great content. I have a 995 with a stuck pto clutch. Is there any way of freeing it off without splitting the tractor? At the moment I just start the implements with pto in gear but the flail mower drains the battery while its cranking up. Tried working the tractor to get heat in it but hasnt worked. I wonder if I could remove the dust cover underneath and prise it off through those feeler gauge slots whilst holding down the clutch pedal?

Hi Choirboy, I would check that the pressure plate is releasing the friction plates, you might get away with just an adjustment, then if that doesn't work you'll need to split the tractor, Removing the bell housing top cover and the top of the gearbox and PTO to allow you to remove the output shaft and clutch but is a lot of work. the friction plate could have adheared itself to the fly wheel or to the cardan shaft splines I really don't know if it's possible to unbolt the pressure plate through the access port in the bottom and slide it back a couple of mm then get something in the free of the pressure plate I suppose a question is, how old is the clutch and is it time to consider replacing it, because if your going to all the work to split it, it could be time effective to replace it while your there. good luck and many thanks Barry

Does the fingers from a DB 990 fit on a DB 880 selectamatic ?? I am searching parts to revision my DB 880 pressure plate. All help is welcome. Thanks
@manfromthemist19589 ай бұрын
Hi Giovanni, honest answer, I haven't got a clue, you would need to measure them once you've got them removed. Try Stuart at Barcley Williams he will know the answer to your question and will have parts. sorry I couldn't help many thanks Barry

@manfromthemist1958 ok thanks...on this movie i see you got 990...and other clutch was from 880....or am i wrong ? Thats why i asked you if the 880 fits on 990 ?
@manfromthemist19589 ай бұрын
Hi Giovanni, the grey clutch was donated by a viewer who watched my video and sent it to me not relising it was a smaller pressure plate, when it arrived and I measured it, finding it was wrong I decided to attemp a repair using parts from it, however I did mange to break my pressure plate before it got assembled so I never found out if they would fit or work on the 990 plate, However you have reminded me that I have the parts and I'll make a video in a little while of possibly attemping to rebuild either the small clutch or repair the 990 one many thanks for your support. Barry

@manfromthemist1958 ok thanks...if the smaller pressure plate is for a david brown 880 selectamatic than i prefer that you attemp to repair the smaller one so if the attemp got succes than maybe i will buy it from you for my david brown 880 selectamatic from 1971 🙂 please let me know.
