I have one more video doing the clutch release bearings and pushing the tractor back together to edit, maybe by the end of this week. Then the next video after that we are going to see a first start 👍👍 I hope LOL

Thanks Ed. Heading in the right direction, though when it’s time to take the cab off it will almost feel like a step backwards lol

Sometimes buying a whole assembly is almost the same or cheaper than buying all the individual parts. One step closer!!
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
It pretty well would have been, and the assembly is an updated and improved version anyway, so I think it was worth the upgrade. Thanks for watching!

That's going to be a good looking and good running David Brown when your done freind...The tractor is definitely getting all the love she needs now....and it still will be a better tractor than you can buy today in my opinion in the end when your done.
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. It should be nice, and doesn’t rely on electronics either so that’s a bonus.

Had to do same thing with mf 135 it was cheaper to buy complete clutch then the springs
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking, I don’t think we’ve ever done the clutch in the 135. It’s getting due though, PTO disk is worn I think, hard to get it in gear.
@GrampiesWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
How's she goin'? It was probably a good idea to get a whole new clutch. Then you know you have a good unit. Without the proper tools, getting the clutch together and all the springs in place would be a feat!!! Thanks for posting. Take care!!
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
Yeah without the tools it would be impossible, if I could find the measurements to make them I'd try it. But at least this way I know it's good like you said. Thanks for watching!

I just bought a clutch assembly for the 3070 restoration. I know your pain

Yeah it hurts the wallet, but hopefully worth it in the end.

So the new clutch was all set, so you didn’t need the special tools or measurements to set it up. ? Different clutch set up than what I’m use to, for sure. When I did the Ferguson tractor engine, I made a wooden clutch alignment tool. Worked good. Coming along Scott. Be runnin before you know it.
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
That's right, all set up just bolt on and go. No fuss. Yes won't be long now we'll find out how my engine rebuild went lol

Hi. One Question. What high should the height of the legs of the compressor plate be?.I did similar work. But there is no information about it. So it would be good to share that information. Thanks

Have the same tractor here in Ireland, the head gasket is gone and she's blowing exhaust gas and oil back to the turbo. You don't have a how to do head gasket video by any chance? 😁
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
Lol no not a how too but it was mentioned some in the engine build video I think, I didn’t go into a ton of detail, it is pretty straight forward luckily.

i also have a 1394 in need of a clutch i was wondering where i could find one
@macfarms Жыл бұрын
I bought mine from A&I products, best place to buy their parts is through a John Deere dealer believe it or not. Deere owns A&I so they get the best prices. It's a genuine LUK clutch the same as the David Brown specialists like Barcley Williams in the UK sells.
@billgreen5490 Жыл бұрын
@@macfarms should have sent it to Felton's clutch in Chattanooga Tennessee. Rebuilt and set to factory specs for cheaper price.
@macfarms Жыл бұрын
It wouldn't have been cheaper. Maybe if your inside the US but for me shipping from Canada the cost to send it down and have it sent back would eat up any savings. Plus the new unit is an updated assembly, new and improved over the original unit.
@billgreen5490 Жыл бұрын
Yeah that's true. Forgot about you being in Canada. Either way if you run into a clutch or brakes that no one up there has, give us a shout. Be happy to help out our northern friends!

@@billgreen5490 yes would be a good option for someone a little closer or maybe some smaller easier to ship items. I'll definitely keep it in mind 👍

I just hope this tractor ends up worth more than it's costing you.
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
It might not lol but it’s not for sale so I guess it doesn’t really matter. I paid $1800 for the tractor so we have a ways to go yet before we exceed the value lol

Did the new clutch cost you an arm and a leg? Too bad you couldn t find assembly drawings and re- build it s obviously worn if the tool you made is too tight for the new part.
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t too bad. It seemed like the cost of the new parts to repair the old clutch was going to be close to what it was to just buy the whole assembly anyway. Plus it’s an updated version of the clutch. So overall I figured it was worth the upgrade.
