Very nice. How would I improve it. Rear horizontal tail lights. Three vertical strips on front grill instead of one or none. Many gauges in the center dash area like (Wiesman) temp- water, oil, exhaust gauges .... water, oil, pressure gauges and a compass... A wooden/veneer front dash (Bentley) and side door finish ... El-Cantara, or aluminum or carbon is UGLY and falls apart in 5 years. Oh yes, lets have 46" leg room in the front so that 195cm rugby players can be comfortable for those 10 hour rides.

@AutomotiveAffairs
@AutomotiveAffairs 5 жыл бұрын
Jaguar makes wonderful cars, and have always loved the XKR. So, while a bespoke chassis would have helped justify the price tag a bit more, what the Speedback has under the skin does make it a very good car. The price is hard to swallow, and I believe that if it was priced the same as a Rolls-Royce Wraith, it would sell in much larger numbers!

Coach building of this caliber has never been cheap, just look at Zagato and Touring Superleggera offerings - they cost about the same or more. For some, its the excluvity that allures them. For instance, you can buy a wrist watch from Walmart for $10, but Richard Mille will sell you a watch worth over $500,000 - they will both tell you the time, but there is also a market for both - albeit one much smaller than the other!

lovely cars but STILL way too powerful too modern. Clearly 1960s DB5 is the influence cos of DB’s linkage. but the light coverings too modern so are the door handles and interior with paddle shifter a No No. And the leather looks a little modern too ? 1960s Connolly armchairs is what you want. your competition is RetroMods like 911 Singer. just dial BACK the modern in every way. and a proper gated gearbox. add in some English quirkiness too. All you need is 350BHP a cracking exhaust note and 18’’ wheels maximum. Also be nice if sun roof and convertible option.

As a retired lifelong designer, I think that you have a car along the lines of historic cars that have made Britain famous. Your attention to detail seems to be amazing. My only criticism of your oral presentation is that you implied that cars of the past were not dependable. As a life long owner of Volvos I find this statement absurd. I have had 10 Volvos over my life and currently drive a 1997 850 R, my wife drives a 1998 V70 Cross Country, and I have my 1985 245 Turbo. All with about a quarter million miles each, and at 72, I have no plans for a newer car with ridiculous digital applications for things that a cable and lever would work much more dependably and never require reprogramming. Prior to becoming a designer, I was working with my father as mechanics for maintaining cars from the 50s and 60s, many of which were very reliable and powerful as in the case of Ford, GM, and MoPar. The old professor

The cars a total mismatch with hints of Aston DB thrown in, ultimately it just doesn't work on any level. And the front is hideous. Puts me on mind of the first series Morgan Aero with the cross-eyed lights. The front design needs to be re-worked. At least its not a Singer 911 which is equally as moribund

@@AutomotiveAffairs Not only that, the fact that this is a Jag is actually mentioned in this Fifth Gear review. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJmrfmuvl7J0m9U Jag .. not the most reliable name in the game, and so a bad foundation is still a bad foundation no matter how much topping there is on it!

Destroyed by the quarter windows and looks like a Mini from the front. Sad.

What an appalling con! It's a jag xkr for 8 times the price. Nothing new about it at all. Just a sad reminder of how low british engineering has sunk in its quest to attract snobbish wide boys with no class and too much money.

It's not a car for the masses, and its certainly not suppose to be on the cutting edge of technology. What it is, is just beautifully made, and it looks, feels, and sounds fantastic - we just love it, and glad that it exists!

For the price of £750,000 they should use a professional presenter...The car is a counterfeit Vintage Aston Martin...the price makes it appear unique, while the poor presentation indicates it's true worth...

thumbs-down #8 here, Friday evening 15 November 2019. 😩 I stopped at 2:03. If it does not have a manual gearbox, you know, 3 pedals, I am not going any further. Yeah I know, I am only one person. You are removing a large part of the fun of driving it.

A manual gearbox is a lot of fun, but on a grand touring coupe, an auto actually suits it better.
