i am about to tell a secret. I miss David Cassidy every day. I was 7 when Cassidy mania started. I went to one of his concerts about twenty years ago. Mom and I had front row seats. He held my face while singing I think I love you for 30 seconds. He made sure I could see him because some ladies were in front of me, and I was sitting in a wheelchair. Thanks Angel....

@kristannharrigan2307 Thank you for sharing your lovely story, I believe he was a beautiful person with a beautiful soul. I've never met him personally, but I did see him here in Australia in 1974 with his love to Australia tour, and I'll be honest I can't remember much of it apart from what he was wearing and his amazing voice ❤️ 💙

Watching and hearing these songs brings back so many memories for me. I loved both David and Shaun, they were both teen idols. Miss you David, may you rest in peace. His vocal ability was overshadowed by the teen idol mania. He is charming and talented and humble. From reading and learning much more about him...I think his father did a lot of damage to his son's joy in life. In interviews David has said his father was very jealous. Hard to take for him. He really was an incredible talent and artist. I have a whole new appreciation for him. And his wonderful personality. ❤️

I have recently researched David’s story. Yes, his father was awful to him. He desperately tried and tried to connect to the father he that he looked up to and loved unconditionally. What a piece of work Jack was. I watched interviews with Shirley Jones, she said David was so tender hearted. She said he got the worst of Jack. She said it wasn’t until Ryan(his youngest) when he started to TRY to be involved in any of his children’s lives. But, it was only Ryan. Such a heartbreaking story. I have grieved for David.

I don’t care who likes this fact but it makes me have joy for DAVID! He actually told Piers a month or so before he died that he had met Jesus in his bedroom. David was raised in church with his grandparents when he was young and David had a beautiful heart or he wouldn’t have taken that little girls death so hard he quit touring. I think we will see him again someday.

A phenomenal artist that is under credited. David was huge. His concert draw in the 70s was tops amongst ALL artist. Talented and so personable. He left us way to soon. It was sad to hear some of his journey in life left him without the close love he could have found with others. I'm glad to have lived during his peak. Play his music. What a voice. His version of Cherish is filled with his heart. Watch his videos, he had the sex appeal men wish for and women adore. His rebirth on Broadway and then Vegas was confirmation of his talent and appeal to his fans. David you will live in the hearts of your friends and fans forever.

His Family helped with the rebirth of his career. Shaun worked with him & Patrick as well... They WANTED to help him & tried OVER & OVER... If you know ANY family that has an addict you see how worn out they get “rescuing” to start over...AGAIN & AGAIN... David was GORGEOUSLY HANDSOME, but his problems began before we ever saw him on stage or screen. His Father, Jack, left David & his Mother when David was young. I won’t say she was perfect,but not long before he got too sick to deny it anymore, in an interview he said he had been singing & remembering HYMNS that he remembered his Mother’s side of the Family sang & that he was interested in recording some of them? OK, sorry about trailing off there? JACK GUILTED HIM SO HORRIBLY when David became a heartthrob😢Jack was JEALOUS of David’s success😢He NEVER achieved the attraction of females & acting/music career that David did so he played head games until the end! Sooo David had to put up with his Dad as well as Industry Executives that stole income from him🧐I’m sure David did smoke some marijuana from time to time & prob other drugs recreationally but not hard core? Alcohol was another issue. It caused Family & Friends who WANTED to help him.They allowed him to sleep & eat at their homes when he went thru his periods of downward spiraling❣️Eventually they had to kick him out when the addiction brought out the David that we as the Fans & General Public only saw towards the end... There is a form of Dementia that is caused by Alcoholism. I heard about it several years before David exhibited symptoms. An LCSW told me about it. She said she had seen many Military Veterans with it in Veterans Hospitals. Trauma brought on by a Narcissistic Passive Aggressive Father then Fame at an early age without the proper🌟Family Foundation🌟 behind the scenes to keep him grounded only accelerated the Planets loss of a talented individual😫 If hard drugs had been his preference,he may have overdosed years before we actually lost him😇

@@ritadaniels3175 Thank you so much for sharing. I appreciate your post so very much. What year was it that David Cassidy passed away? Was he abusive to others, in his addiction? You mentioned the type of Dementia that is induced by alcohol. Does it have it' s own name? I went to an all day clinic on Dementia in 10-2012. The speaker, (Teepa Snow), spoke of certain behavior characteristics that goes with it. We spoke on the break about it. Never heard anyone mention it since then,---until you. My mom passed of this disease 8 months after I attended this clinic. It was main reason I took interest in the clinic. When the speaker spoke of behavior associated w/this kind of Dementia,---I had recognized the same behavior in a family member of mine. Very enlightening all day clinic. Since then, I have worked close to 5 years in a facility where we have had Dementia residents come & go. Sad, sad Disease. So it was alcoholic abuse that caused Cassidy death then? Please respond/Thanks❣💓💕💗❣

That "teen idol status" was his meal ticket for the remainder of his life. That's why he was doing concerts like this decades later singing all those old Partridge Family songs. Even though he hated it, he kept cashing in on it, because he had to. It's what made him one of the most famous people who ever lived.
@joejones9520
@joejones9520 3 жыл бұрын
@@mcmlxii4419 he was a good singer but all of his songs are horrible, I dont see how in all those yrs he couldnt have found at least one real song to make into a hit. It's not even rock and roll, I dont what style these songs would be called but theyre not good. He is hitting all the notes but I hear the strain in his voice that comes from trying to sing songs that arent good, good songs flow out effortlessly. I bet he knew all this too and was frustrated.

I got to see David perform in 2001 much to my surprise. I was in a store when an announcement came over the radio station the store was playing. Free tickets to the David Cassidy concert at Harrah's. First 10 people. I was 10 minutes from the casino and I was driving a Mustang. I went! I got 2 tickets! You'd have thought I won the lottery ; ) I hadn't even known he was in town. My hubby was not so thrilled but he agreed to accompany me. A few nights later we got to the event. It was a small theater probably around 300 people. We saw and heard pretty much what you see here in this concert. That is to say he was fabulous. One of my teenage dreams finally came true at 45 I was in the same room with him and he was singing to me...sigh. There were 2 women that couldn't keep away from the stage and eventually he had to have them taken out by security. He gave them every chance but they began to disturb the show so...he was a gentleman in every respect that night. I was so grateful to have seen him at last and by chance as well. But the best part of the evening was when the show concluded and my husband said to me 'that was better than I thought it would be, he was good!' Wonderful night.

I don't think you're right here. Although he was famous as an actor, as a Partridge, he was also known as a creative musician in very many genres. He was extraordinary in every possible genre and way. I think the people he craved, and needed love from, ended up stealing from him, hurting him and humiliating him so much that he ended up hating himself, hence the end. Shame on Dr. Phil for kicking a man when he's already down. No matter what the time slot is. I was horrified that a doctor would treat anyone like this. Let alone allowing network pressure to influence a patient's treatment and care. That's all for now. I will henceforth behave appropriately (I hope). And please, forgive me.

I had to watch this again. David is so in his prime here. He has so much energy and looks so happy. I cannot believe he is 54 years old! He was aging well. Too bad that alcoholism is a disease, and David gave into it at the end. I have watched some of the channeling videos on KZbin. David says he did give in and let his body die, because of depression. So sad. But he does say he is at peace and in Heaven. He is in the part of Heaven in nature, and is singing with the flowers. The flowers sing back to him. I like to picture him that way. He also says he can visit his relatives and fans on Earth. His spirit can come down here to us in dreams. I have felt him and bonded with him in dreams. I have read that other fans have felt him also. It is real, people! Remember

David loved us fans, so remember that we bonded with him. We can dream about him and feel his energy still. When we look at him, we can feel him still. This gives me comfort. I wish he was still here physically, but that is selfish. He is in a better place and finally at peace. I have such good memories of him, from my past. I love watching him on Partridge Family. I love seeing these concerts on KZbin 😍. Aren't you glad we can watch him again on here? He has helped cheer me up during this pandemic, by seeing his beautiful smiling face. What a talent!! Now I go back and listen to his music and I think he would be just as huge now as he was in the 70s. What an incredible voice! Did I know that back then? I wonder as I think back....or was it just his incredibly good looks that I noticed. I'm sorry I didn't follow him more! It is not surprising he had problems emotionally; the biggest star in the world.....how lonely it can actually be! Dont we all long sometimes for what once was? The world misses you David Cassidy! There will NEVER be another you 🙏💔

Finally, , the truth came out about I Write The Songs!!! I had every album David made, he was my first love way back in the 70's.I write the songs was on one them,no disrespect to Barry Manilow, but his version just is not as rich, or meaningful. I was a member of David s fan club, bought the monthly teen mag, his posters wallpapered my bedroom walls, and backed my school books.His music and beautiful smile got me through some troubling and dark teenage years.When I see his interviews and concerts, I am transformed, I'm not a lonely woman of 64 , living alone, i am that young carefree girl who totally adored and loved one of the best singers ever,- David Cassidy.I know he had his own demons, but I hope he also had lots of love in his life too.Born to entertain, beautiful voice, a face I will always melt at when I see, where ever you are David, I wish you peace.Crying while I write this, such a sad loss. Xxx

Looking back at our childhood is safe. We were young, carefree (a cliché but true) and all the responsibilities and trials of being a grown up were far in the future. We may look back and see some things thru rose coloured spectacles but they're our spectacles and our memories.

Thank you for publishing this Christine! It is wonderful to relive this show! David was so talented, with his breathy, distinctive, singing voice making every song so emotive. He could play drums, piano, guitar too - a real musician of the highest quality! He was the most beautiful man I ever laid eyes on! He had the most amazing smile, gorgeous eyes, perfect nose and sweet lips. Plus, he was funny, bright, quick-witted, well spoken, kind, generous, affectionate, sensual, and cheeky. Sadly he experienced negative, hurtful events that cut him to the quick, so he developed unhealthy coping strategies. Eventually, despite many periods of sobriety, his demons damaged his body, mind and heart. I literally felt like every cell in my body was torn asunder when he passed on and I miss him every day of my life. Oh how loved he is... Could it be forever? Definitely, eternally.

Comments down farther on here say this concert happened in 2004, and David was 54. Wow! He looks so good for 54. He was aging well. The guys,who are jealous and not fans pick on you so later, David. If you had not started drinking again, what could have been, I wonder? So sad! It haunts me about how you end up looking so old and your body giving out on you. And you had such a good body to give up and let it waste away. You gave your all to us fans and promised us you loved us back, so I keep trying to find peace that you are in Heaven and put of pain, but I think I am still grieving your death still. I cannot believe you did not get a transplant or try to get better. I felt you were loved by so many women, one of us would have donated to you. Bobby Rydell got a transplant. I thought you could have gotten one too. You were only 67. You could have lived longer. You said in your book that if you started drinking again, you knew you were going to die. And you just started to drink and then go out to perform drunk. You do interviews drunk also. I have watched and read everything I can about you to figure it out, and I have concluded that you got depressed and let yourself die. It was a slow suicide. David, I will pray that you are happy in the afterlife. I loved you so much, and still do. o much. You were my first love, and I

@@ladylibertywdc8324 That is true In his last “performance” in the movie “The Last Session” (available to stream) it was revealed he was in kidney failure (swelling throughout his body) and the beginning of multi organ failure (which he died from, due to alcoholism). -If he had recognized the problem and gotten treatment, yes perhaps liver transplant could have been an option, but only if he proved he could be abstinent from alcohol. -I loved him too and I still remember in my High School days, knowing he was in town for a concert and (not being able to be there), pining for his appearance on my street. Such fantasy.

@@ladylibertywdc8324 Yes, lots of comments on here about how fast he went down hill "in the end." But he was not sober here. Not meaning to take away from his performance at all -- he's still able to hold it together here. But there are lots of things in his behavior that show it was unlikely he was sober. You don't get to the point he was at in the end without a long history of drinking. Alcoholism is a progressive disease if a person isn't able to recover. I have a huge soft spot for David Cassidy, and he had so much against him starting way before the soul-crushing fame -- hardcore addition genes, and a father who abandoned him and then rejected him over and over -- it would have been a miracle if he hadn't turn to drinking.
