David was so special--much more gifted than he was given credit. He had a unique charisma. He was a bright star from an early age, and even through difficulties like addiction he remained a bright shining star with real talents.

A gifted singer and writer. WOMEN READ THIS, AS U CAN ALL SEE, 80% OF THE COMMENTS HERE ARE FROM WOMEN. WHAT AM I SAYING? JEALOUSY HELPED DESTROY THIS GUY, EVEN HIS OWN FATHER RESENTED HIM, HIS LOOKS, SUCCESS, TALENT.EVEN HIS HAIR. WAS A BETTER SINGER THAN BON JOVI, JUSTIN BEEB, ETC... AS GOOD AS THE BEST OF THE 70S SINGERS WHICH IS SAYING A LOT. JUST TO NICE A GUY, HONEST AND GENEROUS. TO SENSITIVE A GUY MAN. EVEN THOSE JERKS STEALING FROM HIM PROBABLY DID IT MORE OUT OF ENVY THAN GREED. R.I.P DAVID. THE CHICKS MISS YA BUDDY. AND DUDES LIKE ME, WHO APPRECIATED YOUR OBVIOUS TALENT, BUT NEVER RESENTED IT.

I am a dude that appreciates his talents as well. Sure, I like hard rock and metal....Van Halen, Boston, Ace Frehley (list goes on)....but have always been able to appreciate the likes of David Cassidy, Davy Jones, Ricky Nelson etc. Took a lot of guff for it in school but never cared. Funny how so many guys are so insecure about their manhood they can't engage in the fandom of a male performer that's charismatic and attractive. So bizarre.... Cassidy was a gifted singer and talented musician. He deserves more props than he ever got. Miss you David, you were a genuine great and a legend!

@@garyhill2740 THIS!!! I am a single mom of one son, it pains me to see watch him struggle because “it’s not okay for men to express their emotions”. David and my son, as so many others, have a lot in common with the “absence” of their fathers. It deeply affects a child when a parent is absent. He never got over that. Kudos to you for saying this.

I always loved his cute laugh. His whole face would light up and he’d look so happy. He was a beautiful man for a long time. It’s sad what he went through and unfortunately self medicated with alcohol to his death. He will always be my first love. I truly hope he made his peace with God and has finally found the peace, love and joy he always dreamed of ❤

Could not agree more!! He was truly a mega talent yet it only became visible during The Partridge Family years. Blood Brothers too, but not the level of recognition he GENUINELY deserved. Angel face! Now he's got his Heavenly wings. Now I believe, he's a true angel. And I'll love him forever.

He got, and threw away, millions of dollars. I'm thinking you thought Keith Partridge was a sweet, sensitive, loving, honest person, and somehow think that was David Cassidy. I don't think Susan Dey appreciated David throwing her under the bus in David's tell all book. In fact, she refused to speak to him for the rest of his life because of it.

I knew David and you are spectacularly wrong. I adored him but he was violently narcissistic and self-absorbed. And he could be horribly abusive when drunk, which was often in later years. Ryan Cassidy (and to a slightly lesser extent, Patrick), are the angelic Cassidy brothers.

It breaks your heart to hear how he was exploited so much...I recall his 1974 tour in Australia, we were all so in love with everything about him. I still cannot believe how the last years of his life, where he should have been sitting pretty and enjoying the fruits of his labour, instead he suffered poor health and bankruptcy. It shouldn't have ended that way to such a beautiful man. Makes me cry to see how he self destructed. Be at peace now David, you sure deserve it xx

It makes you wonder, why so many in the industry didn't want to give David a completely fair shake, in terms of acknowledging his diverse talents? By the time he starred in Blood Brothers, I think it was all starting to improve; but really, you have to perhaps conclude that with David's extraordinary good looks, they didn't want to acknowledge his full range of gifts (just like many also do, with very stunning women).

A gentle soul whose longing to be loved and admired for his true talent probably never was realized. He succumbed eventually to the alcoholism that also afflicted his late father whom David really never received the love from that he also longed for. When people don't love themselves, even when the receive the adulation of many, it's often not enough to save them from their demons. David deserved better than what he ended up getting from this world and his death was a tragedy. He was a truly talented man and he is missed.

Beautiful soul, I loved this because he explains that he loaned his money to people he trusted to at least remain loyal friends and they burned him. Now I really get why he was so down and isolated himself ending up on a friend’s sofa with nowhere to live. His confidence and security was broken many times. It affected him on every level. It was hard to watch his health deteriorate over the past 10 years I’ve been following him on his webpage. Heartbreaking. But this is good, it shows his child like hope rekindled. He’s an human being and vulnerable to self judgement like anyone. It’s awe inspiring to watch him stand up and be creative again. I focus on his positive energy. He made 3 major comebacks during his battle with alcohol. His loyal friend Danny Bonaduce said that takes incredible courage to do. He’s to be admired and given credit for this. Thank you for posting this, I’ve not seen David Cassidy so deferring before. He must respect the man interviewing him. I think he’s a great interviewer as well. Bless you David and all your faithful fans.

God bless David🕯💗🙏🏻

pleiadian13 I am a new fan, i am 36 years old and i watched PF when i was younger in the 90s. I didnt get that into it, to be honest! I preferred the Brady Bunch LOL! However, when David died and i began reading about his life and how he handled it, i was in awe. I bought his autobiography on Google play and i could not put it down. He was just a regular guy who wanted to act and have a simple life doing what he loved. I too would be terrified to be that famous, especially like in his case, when he wasnt seeking it. Getting to see who he was from his book, youtube videos, and fan stories (you guys are so great btw! So loyal and loving) I am now a big fan. I love his candor, sensitivity, and how relateable he came across in many interviews he gave. Im so sad that i became a fan after his death and will not be able to tell him personally what an admirable, inspirational and down to earth person he was! 💔 r.i.p.

Vanessa De Leon, yes, David was an incredibly talented and spiritual person. And a joy to follow, simply for those two things. I’m not surprised that you’ve found him. He left a lot for us to process and I thank him for all of it, even the difficult parts. The sound of his voice touches my heart even now. I am sad for what he had to endure and feel the videos here are a tremendous insight to his work and values, the mistakes in judgement. Unashamedly human, that’s what I love too💗 enjoy getting to know what we did as girls. I saw him when I was 11 performing. During the height of his fame I the partridge family. I had and memorised the PF album and Cherish by David Cassidy. I had a huge poster above my bed from the concert that literally made life worth living and at 10 years old we waited for every teeny bopper mag with info about David and the new photos! He was a well faceted personality. So much to love and admire.

Sally Angus I agree Sally. David has never gotten the credit he deserves for his obvious talent. Being a singer & musician myself, it's not too difficult to identify the ones with talent. At least some talent of sorts. In David's case, his talent was wasted on The Partridge Family. Nothing against anybody else on the show, but other than David & Shirley, there was no other talent on the show...Lol. David can obviously sing, and he can play rthymn guitar. He was never really taken seriously because they knew they had the golden goose with his obvious good looks. So they decided to make themselves as much money as they could on his face alone, totally ignoring his musical abilities. And he's the coolest guy too. I have no idea how he ever kept that great attitude towards everyone that was trying to royally screw him. I feel so bad for him. He never, ever deserved to be treated the way he was treated. As far as I'm concerned, he went out with dignity, grace, elegance and class. R.I.P. David...Some of us know the talent you had, my friend!

Sally Angus Thank you Sally. Your words I appreciate too. Yes, I play guitar and drums, and I sing harmonies also. I enjoy doing it, although I don't make a living from it. I'm actually a martial arts instructor, but I do like to come home and play a little guitar or sing a bit just to unwind when I'm not running. I've been either playing guitar or singing since I've been a teenager... It certainly can be soothing when I need to relax. Unfortunately I'm not good enough to make a living out of it, so I guess I'll stick to what does make me a living...Lol Actually, you've inspired me to learn a Cassidy song or two! Thank you kindly...

I'm saddened that there are so many negative comments about this man, someone who's been described as being a wonderful person (except as a husband - even his brother Patrick said this in an interview). I've seen lots of videos in which David is telling his audience that the world needs more kindness. May I suggest that you do something kind for yourself - ignore the haters. There will always be an abundance of that type of person, and far too few of those whom we need in our life, and in this world. Many blessings to you and I wish health and happiness for you in the new year.

His Brother Shawn Cassidy! 1/2 brother LOVED HIM SOOOO MUCH. Look at other you clips of the talent they had singing together. You can tell they were classically trained. David was too ! He may not have had Shirley in early years but he certainly did though out his life. His Father being a famous actor. He fought alcohol and and kidney and liver failure. Rip David! True talent ! Good hearted person and funny ! Great Humor until the end!

He was so underutilized in celebrity life and not appreciated nor recognized for his talent and intelligence, AT ALL. And here he is so insightful, irreverent and brutally honest . His Angel's wings are shining brightly in well deserved compassion and God's embrace IN HEAVEN now. Rest in peace dearest heart. Finally, you are appreciated in the Higher Being's Kingdom of wealth, care and love. 💖🙏😇

My sister was 10 and I was 12 in 1970. We bickered back and forth Friday nights to watch "The Name of the Game"(my show) or "The Partridge Family"(her show) UNTIL Dad got her a TV set(a Panasonic 19" B&W set take took FOREVER to warm up and longer when the tubes were getting old)& I'll always hold David Cassidy & the Partridge family in the highest regards. You are like an older brother to me when I reminisce about my “groovy” Brady Bunch wannabe childhood of the early 70’s. R.I.P. David and thanks for the second TV set!

Someone's got it very wrong. David Cassidy never"left" the Partridge Family. He was on right up until the very last episode in 1974. He appears on every episode of the series. The Partridge Family "left" its stars when it was suddenly cancelled in the Spring of 1974.
@LuvTadnDixie

I thought they canceled it because he wasn't coming back. He didn't want to do it anymore. I think they were thinking of getting Rick Springfield to maybe replace him, but it didn't happen. He had a contract, he fulfilled it, and then it was over.

I would have left The Partridge Family the moment they added Ricky Segall to the show. Everyone feels Ricky Segall ruined the show, even though he was written out after 13 or 14 episodes - because viewers were complaining about the uncute 4-year old.

Imagine how many people he could've led to the Lord with his beautiful voice if he had known the Lord when he was younger. I was just reading an article about how David pretty much turned out like his dad Jack did. Basically, not having much to do with his daughter Katie. Just like Jack wanted nothing to do with David. Apparently, he was terribly jealous...So sad.

I never understood his relationship with his daughter. The mother raised her, they lived in different states . . . didn't even meet her until she was 13. Don't understand what happened there. But I don't believe David Cassidy was ever jealous of his daughter, unless I'm misreading what you wrote. He always said he was proud of her. Jack Cassidy was jealous of David however, never said he was proud of him, that's very true.

@@annabellem.4014 I totally agree. he has a great voice style and delivery -and look - those songs were written by professional songwriters including Neil Diamond....and the "Wrecking Crew" -- a crowd of top notch studio musicians who graced many pop songs then -- did all the playing -- but I give David total credit for making the songs come alive through his talent -- and his Keith persona - which, of course, was only a character. I lost track of David eons ago -- and I was saddened to hear he had such a rough time -- but when I consider his blood family that their fate- I must say I'm not surprised. The only stable person in his life seemed to be Shirley Jones -- and she was just an actress playing his mother -- and she WAS in real mother in law ---his mind got messed with too. Rose Petal. I agree. Shirley had stated that Jack suffered from a type of mental illness. He had Bio-Polar. I don't think David had that. But I do feel he was suffering from depression. Because of his Father. One of the real singers that sang with David and who also wrote the song I'll meet you halfway. He said they always knew when David either saw his Father or talked to his Father. He stated every time after David saw or talked to his Father. He would show up to record, and those were the nights they would play really late. David would say, We have to start over or We need to do that again , always saying he messed up. The Man who wrote the song, said David didn't mess up. Because his Father was always putting David down, even the way he had his hair styled or make smart comments about the clothes David wore. I watched an interview Shirley had done. She stated that her and Jack were having some problems and She wanted to work it out with Jack. She said they were sitting at the Dinning Room table. They were talking and then Jack suddenly stood up. He said to Shirley file for a Divorce. Shirley said no, she didn't want a Divorce, She wanted to make their marriage work. As Jack started to walk out the door, he said he didn't want to hurt her anymore. In my opinion, I think he had a hard time accepting how Famous Shirley was in her Own Right. And how extremely Famous David had become. Shirley said Shaun took it the hardest out of the boys. In my opinion, that was one of the reasons, David and Shaun were very close. Shaun hadn't started his Career yet. According to Shirley that Jack did love all his Sons. He just wasn't sure how to be a Dad to them. She said he was starting to get close to Patrick and then when She had Ryan. Jack was closer to Ryan. She also stated Jack wanted a Daughter. I believe Shirley wasn't able to have any more Children. Listening to Shirley talk about the reason why She wanted to do a television series, so She could spend more time with her Children. And She didn't want to take them traveling all around with her, especially with them being in School. On several interviews She would share how when She came home, the first thing She wanted to do was see her boys, get hugs and kisses from them. Listen to how their day went. Jack would say, you can talk to the kids later. I want to talk with you about your day. To me it seemed like Jack was jealous of anyone who Shirley gave more attention to. Shirley had said many times Jack was her first. He was her Soul mate. She said, She loved doing everything for him. She also stated he helped her to do several things with her voice, and She also gave Jack a lot of credit for helping her grow with her acting. Shirley was a great actress even before She met Jack. In my opinion, Shirley is the type to give more credit, than accept it for herself. She knew by saying Jack helped her to do various things with her voice. Or when She received great compliments on her acting, when She did her Musicals. She would give credit to Jack too. From various articles that I read. Jack had a hard time accepting that his Wife's Career and his Oldest Son's Career were both excelling. And Jack seemed only able to get guest appearances on various shows. It's so sad that he let his pride get in the way of his relationship with his whole Family. What is really sad, is Jack and Shirley were only divorced a little over a year. When the horrible tragedy happened. On one of Shirley's interviews, the Journalist had asked Shirley, if She thought if Jack would of gotten help for his drinking, did Shirley think her and Jack would of gotten back together? Shirley replied no. And that She also felt She would of married Marty so fast either. She went on to say it wasn't because of Marty. When Shirley received the news about Jack. She was in a state of shock. She felt they all were. David was 25 yrs old and hadn't spoke to his Father for close to a year. Shaun was about 15 or 16 yrs old. Patrick was about 13 or 14 yrs and Ryan was about 12. Shirley had stated during that interview, that Jack was the love of her life and probably will always be. Then She said (at the time of that interview, her and Marty were reaching as many years of being married as the same amount of her and Jack. Shirley stated She picked two very good men to marry. She said they both are really great husbands and they made her laugh a lot. Especially Marty. He is a lot of fun. She told the Journalist that even her Own Family and Friends thought they made an unlikely Couple. Shirley said that was how they came up for the title of their book they wrote together. Shirley. did a great job raising her Son's. And She was really great with David. She understood his what David was going through and his Mother. She even tried to be there for Danny as well. Not to forget David's Fans showing up on her lawn. Hoping to see David. And the time Ryan was riding his bike out in front of their home. And a car full of sightseers, who happened to ask Ryan if he knew where any stars lived? And Ryan replied, well ya my Parents are famous and We live right here. Park the car, my Mom will let you in. Sally Jesse Raphael was right when. She said that they are one crazy bunch. Shirley replied She loves it, She is one happy Woman. Not many People from Hollywood say that. Look how unhappy David was. Hopefully now he is at peace with his Mom and Dad. Shirley is so proud of all of her Sons and her Grandchildren. God Bless. all of them.
