He had it all. The looks, the personality, the voice, the kind heart and yet when he was lonely and depressed no one came to help him. His own father basically abandoned him not to mention that Shirley Jones commented that when David was around 8 years old she would often come home and find David sitting in a corner crying from something his own father said to him or that Jack abused him physically and yet David adored him. No one should have to be so alone. *Rest In Peace David* *We Love Ya*

From what I can tell, this is very true. Cassidy seems very awkward in many (not all) post Partridge appearances. I heard an interview with his arranger (John Bahler) who said David couldn’t accept what he was so good at and what appealed to mass audiences. He wasted a lot of his time trying to redefine himself as an R&B singer, was the example he gave. David had other successes to be sure, but never recaptured what he had during the Partridges.

6:22 Is that David blushing when being asked about his relationship with Susan Dey? Cute
@LuvTadnDixie5 жыл бұрын
That was one of my favorite parts. In any interview when David was promoting his book, no matter what show, the interviewer always asks about his relationship with Susan Dey, always. Inquiring minds want to know! God, they would have made a cute couple. In real life, I guess it wasn't meant to be, but onscreen, they were adorable together. If The Partridge Family were a soap opera, they wouldn't have played brother and sister -- instead they would have been a SUPERCOUPLE!
@Swakara15 жыл бұрын
@@LuvTadnDixie I heard from a few different sources that they were actually dating during the PF show not just when it ended as David says in his books. Susan knew that David was meeting many girls when he was on tour and she wasn't happy about it; apparently, it drove them apart. This would also explain David's behavior with Susan then; it was way more than brotherly. Maybe one day Susan will tell what really happened between them.
@AnAmericanGirl4Sure5 жыл бұрын
I would imagine that Susans' people met with Davids' people and there were some papers signed that said that neither David or Susan would speak publicly about any relationship between the two.

I agree with you 100%! I am so glad to hear another fan comment on the real truth of DC's sad and pathetic end to what could have been such an untarnished legacy. I am HUGE DC FAN! Please do not judge me on this following statement: DC died in bankruptcy, with three failed marriages, and THREE DRUNK DRIVING CHARGES!!! The third drunk driving accident was a hit and run. If this had been anyone else, who was not famous it would have been some serious jail time. A lot of DC fans have an almost GOD like persona of DC. This includes other celebrities who get a slap on the wrist for their crimes and indiscretions. I completely understand that DC had some serious problems, and demons he could not shake off. But in the light of everything else, don't we all from time to time have our own problems and demons to manage? My daughter's best friend lost a leg due to a drunk driver. He lost his license to drive for the rest of his life, and served 1-3 years jail time. Was only fair. DC has brought much joy in my life with his music and othet superb talents, but even as Danny Bonaduce said, "It was a shame, so tragic." This NOT a direct quote. I guess I vented here to allow us we are just the same as celebrities when it comes to the law.

It's possible that David wrote this to placate his then wife, Sue Shifrin. His book was released in 1994 and in 1993 he appeared on a British show called "This is your life" David Cassidy. Susan Dey took part of it and when she came on, David & her were hugging tight while she was saying I love you. That was intense and genuine and Sue Shifrin was watching on with this look on her face.

Ultimately Cassidy's HUGE ego finished his career. He was a teen idol singing forgettable bubblegum pop music, he was a pretty boy, but his looks overshadowed his minimal talent. He didn't write great music, he didn't play great guitar. He wasn't a great actor. He always claims he was a rock and roller. Yet I've never heard him sing rock and roll or blues. He spent 40 years trading on his 'Partridge Family' fame, a tv show that only lasted for 5 years. He had 3 failed marriages, ignored his illegitimate daughter for 25 years and had a huge fall out with his son. The combination of having an ego the size of Texas and an alcohol problem caused the failure of his career and his relationships. I find his false Bon homie and 'Mr Showbiz' persona actually very difficult viewing. I do feel sad for the guy, to have had such adulation and fame and watch it all dissipate into nothingness can easily drive you to drink, which was a major part in his downfall.

So BuzzerObama. If the only reason you came here was to insult David First off, how bored are you? What you have no life. Sounds like pure jealousy to me , and I see why. David is gorgeous, sexy.a good actor and great singer!! No wonder you're jealous. I get it.
