To the people complaining about David Chase’s “pc” comment, understand that what he means is the characters weren’t pc, not that the themes or underlying messages were anti-pc. There is a difference, and that’s what tv is missing. The sopranos had characters who were terrible people, but they were never portrayed in a positive light. Today in Tv, not only are the underlying messages pc, but the characters are as well. Which is what makes them feel preachy.

I don't think David Chase realizes how loaded the phrase, "it's not PC" is, if you've ever heard about how David Chase designed the Sopranos to mostly make you hate these characters, then you'd know that the types of people these days who celebrate things JUST because they're "not PC" are the kinds of people David Chase, supposedly, reserves most of his contempt for.

I frequently cite a Roger Ebert quote on this "It's not what it's about, it's about how it is about it." The characters on the Sopranos are not politically correct, either in their own representations, or their personal beliefs, but the show makes a point to explore Italians outside those narrow representations, and ridicule the characters for their beliefs

Its called a dramedy Mr. Chase. I am a huge fan of The Sopranos and always will be. Those characters are beloved and will forever be burned into my brain. I do hate don’t stop believing and I like Journey. They were great live but NOT that song. I appreciate all the effort that went into. the show. I must be honest. I did not like Many Saints at all. Miscast, lack of storyline, Michael G is not believable of a mobster or racketeer. He cd not cover that role. Sorry. I wanted to love it but I just didn’t . I noticed that while some of the younger viewers liked it more and maybe had not watched the entire series and really understood it. I watched the entire series many times and every time I re watch I get something else out of it. It’s a very complex show. I think lots of the baby boomers and ppl around that era disliked Many Saints. Just my opinion. For such a groundbreaking series and all the money and time that went into the series, to me, The Many Saints seemed like a cheap dognone thrown to the public because the public was pleading for it. To me it seems like Mr. Chase didn’t even participate in any part of the making of that film.I know he certainly created it. If I knew a prequel or sequel to The Sopranos wd play out like that, then that movie shd have NEVER been made. What a huge dissapointment. Did not come anywhere close to our beloved group of characters. It tainted them. Better luck next time. Plz don’t add anything more to The Sopranos.

I'm beginning to think after this movie and his interviews that David Chase is garbage. I'm thoroughly convinced that Terrence Winter, Michael Imperioli, Steve Buscemi, and the rest of the writers & directors who worked on the series carried that show.

The way the scriptwriting model in American television is set up is ambiguous. Often, a person who had little to do with writing a particular episode gets the official credit for it. For instance, it's quite obvious that David Milch wrote every episode of Deadwood, but the credit got passed around to the other writers. Strange system.
