OOOH I live for this! Euphonium is given little to no credit. There are countless times when I've been asked what I play because my mouthpiece is on the table and they either guess Trumpet or Tuba and I have to control myself to not choke them. Let's go Euphoniums (or baritones stfu).

They couldn't be more wrong.

+Aimee Guest It's true! I've been playing euphonium for 20 years, and trumpet for 10 years before that. And while I'll probably never be at the level David Childs is at, I'm still a pretty good player. But when I started out, I didn't sound nearly as good and struggled at times. All it takes is practice.

a baritone is a bellfront horn (the ones you usually see on the field i.e a marching band) a euphonium is what david childs plays, its used in concert (sit down music) and also most of the time parade. i am a baritonist/euponist myself and i have played for 5 6 years (almost half my life)its a very beautiful instrument and it will be my majoring instrument. oh right, uh well i hope my answer helped. also, since a euphonium is a concert horn it has a softer sound to it. . .

You didn't understand the point of my comparison. It has nothing to do with how widely used they are, but with physical characteristics. Euphoniums and flugelhorns (and tubas, and French horns) have conical bores. Baritones and trumpets (and trombones, and flutes) have cylindrical bores. See the Wikipedia "Bore (wind instruments)" article for a definition.
