We still have 3°clock black out on a Saturday! If you want to watch the Premier league you have to live in a country that ISN'T Britain!! What is that money for? Where does it come from and who does it go to? And why are Premier league referees like Michael Oliver working in the middle east? You know.....where the owners of some of the clubs are 🤔 The standard of journalism in this country allows for this 🐂💩. Maybe the reason why so many clubs feel victims is because there is no consistency and bizarre decisions that don't make sense. It all makes a difference if you take 2 points off one team and allow another to gain a point by getting an equaliser. It does matter. Every point matters when there's only one in it by the end.

That needs to be ascertained by putting him under some serious pressure, for who else could he be referring to? You're not appreciating the psychological affect that a win against your rivals would make. For example, beating Arsenal at Anfield would have given us a boost to probably win a lot more games.. and maybe it would have had a negative effect on Arsenal and City seeing us win the game and go clear. That game, Diaz goal vs Spurs, and the pen for Doku's kick against MacAlister are title-swinging mistakes from referees.
@TheRedPressLFC11 күн бұрын
I do think we could have went on more of a run for sure, but we were also pushing our luck a lot last season and in balance, I don't think we had enough in the tank to go on and win the league ahead of City.
@intellectual_honesty596111 күн бұрын
@@TheRedPressLFC It's true that we pushed our luck in so much as we overcame a horrendous injury crisis and won games on spirit/energy, some in the last minute and once due to a poor ref decision (Forest away; although a goal was scored nearly a minute later, not directly from the bad call). Personally, I think the title went when we didn't beat City at Anfield. That McAlister penalty denial was the moment the title went. It would have replenished the tank that was running empty and City would have been very deflated. I notice Arne Slot has referred back to that moment a few times in his own pressers, when talking about fine margins (that and the Son chance). If we had won against City, we'd have gone some points clear of them, and they were playing Arsenal the following week, in game they felt they could now draw. That draw wouldn't have been good enough for them had we won the previous week. They may have had to chase for the win, and left the back door open for another defeat. 2 defeats in a row to rivals would have knocked their confidence. It may have even led to Arsenal winning the league instead. Like I said, some of these mistakes were the fine margins between winning and losing a title (for more than one team, not just us). That's why I am not surprised we are challenging for the title this season, because the squad is/was good enough to win it last year (even when City had Rodri). It's just that we lacked a bit of luck (or good refereeing decisions) at the crucial moments in the run-in.
@TheRedPressLFC11 күн бұрын
@@intellectual_honesty5961 Agreed. I also think that the development of those midfielders is a year on and that version of the team is more mature, and better. That Mac Allister moment was huge. I think the Liverpool v City matches at Anfield are always very telling about the title race. Pep changes his approach in that fixture more than any other. If we win against Southampton, it turns into a must win game for City. We've seen him play for a draw here in the past, he can't afford to do that this time, and an open game suits us better.
@intellectual_honesty596111 күн бұрын
@@TheRedPressLFC Yes, I agree. And if Walker is truly on the decline now, then an open game is terrible for them, as he's usually their ace in the hole when it comes to defending our pace on the counter. He's stopped many a counter attack with his recovery speed, as we saw with Diaz's rushed finishes under pressure when clean through last season.
@MrIrishscouse11 күн бұрын
@@TheRedPressLFC But the decisions in the examples cited in the comment you replied to cost a total of 7 points. I know that leaves a 2 point deficit in the final reckoning but if those outcomes had gone in Liverpool's favour, city might have dropped points in games they won. I admit in the final reckoning it's a counterfactual scenario I'm positing here but David Coote was a VAR official in the Arsenal and city games, and now this footage emerges of his crass comments. As a columnist in one of the broadsheet papers said today, why would you give the benefit of the doubt to referees if your team has been discommoded by contentious decisions they make?

I am getting really fed up with people, including the guy in this video, saying that the critical thing in their mind was not his views, but that he was stupid/arrogant enough to put it onto video. I disagree 100% with such views. The issue most definitely is a referee having and stating such views. Putting it to video is irrelevant from that perspective (it simply means we are now aware, and have evidence to take action). For any referee to bear such views - in particular the comments about Germans and Scousers were just awful. It goes without saying that there is now also some credibility to saying there was maybe a dark motive behind some of the bad decisions, rather than just incompetence. I would be OK with a ref saying Klopp was not his fave person, but all the c***t overlay was nasty, and the Scousers and German stuff just smacked of prejudice. Apart from that, I thought the video narrator otherwise did a really good job of being fair, balanced and objective.

Thanks for watching. I think realistically, all referees will have varying opinions about different managers, and that has the possibility to impact on different decisions. I think that was all fair comment. I can't comment on the punishment it's not really anyone's shout but the people involved. I do think though that there are some really important points arising from this fiasco. Yes, it was a drunken jolly up and should be regarded as mates just joking around for a laugh during a very unfunny period in our history and people were suffering all sorts of brain freezing because of all the suffering and death. My understanding is that he didn't call Liverpool Football Club sh*t he said that they played that which is not the same thing but I can understand the offence fans have taken. Many fans think their own side have played like that if they get beaten maybe badly. I accept that one or two of the decisions were poor especially the handball v Arsenal but I think that was a misread rather than bias. Great observation by some that they are under the scrutiny of cameras so the likelihood of any referee deliberately demonstrating genuine bias is virtually nil. There was a second video in which he said the video was very definitely not for general release. So he acknowledges firstly that it was seriously inappropriate and in doing so, that he knew it would cause major offence or even ruination so whoever leaked that video has betrayed that trust and for me that is actually in some ways more offensive and genuinely disturbing than what was said in the video. There had been some unpleasant exchanges with JK and AR at at least one of the games, maybe ongoing issues, so I suppose you could say he was just letting off steam. Is a referee allowed to do that in private amongst friends or family if he feels he has a genuine grievance? It wasn't all of them he said JM was ok so it wasn't the Club so much it was about certain individuals on a personal level. As far as the possible racism towards a singular German is concerned we know the Scots probably call us worse things than what he said about JK. Is it racism? I think it only becomes that if it's said in public but don't forget a certain Mr. Gascoigne once told the whole of Norway to F off! and was immediately rebuked by Lawrie McMenemy. I don't think Paul was actually feeling hostile towards Norwegians it was just football banter/bravado and a lot of English fans dislike Germans for beating us too often. Unfortunately we know the song "We hate scousers" is very popular amongst many clubs (including Forest fans and where David Coote has his roots). Maybe there was a bit of not being the odd one out at the party going on there. So what I think you have ended up with is a drunken spoof which was only said on the spur of the moment (possibly because of the comical element of him actually being a Prem referee) which was only done for a laugh. If that was the case can you really allow any individual to ruin another person's career if they have proven, over the years, that they are actually a decent sort of referee (despite the feelings about debatable incidents)? Other clubs have accused him of making poor decisions against them when they were playing LIVERPOOL, e.g. Villa who seem to have suggested he'd been biased in Liverpool's favour! I think the only conclusion that should be drawn is that he should choose his mates more carefully lest they lead him astray while drunk and then slaughter him by way of a spiteful swipe or possibly for £££. My gut feeling is that he will be removed from his post but I think a lot will be sympathetic towards him simply because of the scale of that betrayal. Secretly envious of him or was there more to it? Great question at the end, did his 'mates' actually set him up to fail?

There's no problem with calling Klopp a German if he was just being descriptive of his nationality, but that's not what happened. He used an offensive word in conjunction with Klopp's nationality. "These guidelines shall apply where a Club is found in breach of Rule E20.1 in circumstances where the offending conduct, words or behaviour of persons purporting to be its supporters of followers includes *a reference, whether express or implied*, to any one or more of ethnic origin, colour, race, *nationality*, religion or belief, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation or disability) (“Relevant Breach”)."

Diaz kicked ball away after Saka fouled by McAllister.. no yellow Konate cleaning out Ollie Watkins. Obvious penalty not given. Gravenberch stamps on Pal Torres foot. No pen given and Salah goes up the other end and scores.

You've given a list of subjective calls and a fundamental misunderstanding of the rules surrounding kicking the ball away, None of these incidents involve a match official who has shown clear bias for or against any Premier League clubs. This isn't about partisan support of a particular club. This incident with Coote should concern all football fans. *Szobaslai avoids red after kicking ball away whilst already in a yellow against Notts Forest* Could have deserved a yellow, but ultimately he's not delaying the start of the replay, which is what the law of the game is. People assume it's just kicking the ball away, which it isn't. *Liverpool get away with conceding a goal against arsenal which would have meant a 3-2 loss because Szobaslai decides not to jump for a ball.* It was a clear foul, given in every match every weekend. If it's not called for a foul the goal would have been disallowed for handball anyway. *VVD lashing out at Havertz. Obvious red card.* Personally, I think he should have got punished here. Should have got a yellow and both players spoken to. It's not a a red card offence. *VVD obvious holding a player v Crystal Palace. Nailed on pen.* Nope. Dozens of similar incidents every weekend. None are given as pens. *Diaz kicked ball away after Saka fouled by McAllister.. no yellow* Once again, the restart hasn't been delayed. People getting angry here do not know the rule. *Konate cleaning out Ollie Watkins. Obvious penalty not given.* It wasn't a pen, imo. You might think otherwise, but either way it's a subjective call. I thought it was a great challenge. *Gravenberch stamps on Pal Torres foot. No pen given and Salah goes up the other end and scores.* Torres makes the contact, not Gravenberch. I get some things are objective, but there's no reasonable case here.

In addition, I think incidents like the VVD v Palace one *should* be fouls, but right now, under these laws, they're not.

@@timward5194 Interference / moving a ball is very inconsistantly given a yellow - agree. Holding is also quite inconsistantly resulting in a foul.

His performances and all refs are scrutinised after every game . Just because he said he didn't like him doesn't mean he can't be impartial . Not every ref likes every team they come across. An opinion is like an asshole everybody has 1 . He just made his public knowledge with a few beers in him . But be guaranteed most refs have opinions similar to his about a few teams . Mountain out of a molehill
