Telling someone they don’t deserve a livable wage or healthcare is such a wild thing to say with your whole chest. That’s not even a music industry thing thats just a human thing, but saying they should be responsible for their own careers is saying, “tell me you know nothing about the music industry without telling me you know nothing.” Even if she was green, which this isn’t her first go she’s been grinding at this for YEARS, that doesn’t mean she can’t have seen and experienced some shit in the last year. It doesn’t take people years to realize when they and others are being mistreated by a system meant to grind them up and spit them out when they no longer useful to the people making the real money.

Aren’t most (if not all) artists independent contractors and not actual employees of the record label? Not saying they don’t deserve livable wages or health insurance but they should be responsible for it themselves just like any other self-employed person. Why are they special?

Coming from the point of view of an older individual. It is extremely hard for older adults, like over 40 to re-enter to work force. Jason wasn’t off when he said he wasn’t employable at his age. He’s competing with younger, more educated individuals who have more work experience. Plus, it’s hard to consider starting over at the very bottom of the ladder when your close to middle age.

my take on chappel: pursuing a career in music is seen as a privilege in my eyes because there are people who would like to pursue a career in the arts but ultimately don't because it is not the most "stable". survival triumphs pursuing your passion. She was speaking to an niche audience of struggling artists, but did not address the inequities in our healthcare industry that regular Americans face, it just seemed out of touch for her to speak on it given the political social climate. If livable wages, insurance, and job security is the priority then one should pursue a different career path as an employee working for someone else. If someone wants to build their own business or own career creating something, then it requires a lot of risk in the beginning and then you reap the rewards. so to me it came off like she just wanted the best of both worlds where she had job security but then is able to become a household name and have a ton of wealth after her success?? so it just seemed out of touch to me

i gotta be honest, i was really rolling my eyes during chappell's speech---i feel like her politically-driven takes always leave a sour taste in my mouth. she failed to encourage people to get out and vote during an extremely crucial election (which i found really strange considering she claims to care about trans rights more than anything, and those are now seriously on the line) and now she uses this big moment not to talk about whats happening to regular americans across the country, but to talk about these poor singers that are getting dicked over by major record labels...i just could not care less. i care about what's happening to OUR healthcare system, not people who are trying to make it in an extremely cut-throat industry, which is a privilege to be able to pursue in and of itself. i think she has a lovely success story, but it frustrates me that she's also created a fanbase that attacks anyone who points out her short-comings. she's just not the "social justice warrior" a lot of us want/need right now...or ever EDIT: i feel like its worth including that i think the argument made in the article against her is objectively stupid and a slippery slope. my feelings against chappell are for the reasons above, not because she "hasn't been in the industry long enough" to say what she said

Idk why ppl are so mad about the Batchelor breaking up with Rachel. Yall are DESPERATE to find a reason to drag someone, anyone. While in the relationship he was figuring out if Rachel was his life partner. And as soon as he came to the realization that she wasn’t, he ended the relationship and didn’t lead her on even further. Was he supposed to keep dragging on the relationship? Yall are saying he was leading her on by being with her but have yall ever thought that it *takes time* to figure out if you want to be with someone. You don’t want to hastily and prematurely end a relationship if ur not sure. It’s often not just 1 thing that leads to an immediate breakup. It’s a multitude of small things that pile on each other over time until one day you realize: maybe this person isn’t right for me. But again how would you know that until you experience those issues throughout the relationship. Yall are just mad bc you’re projecting your hurt feelings from a prior relationship (maybe one that led you on).

So while I agree that it does take time to figure out how you want to proceed with someone, I also think it matters how you handle it. For one, if you’re still trying to figure out how you feel about someone and your future with them, it may not be the best option to publicly and privately say that you want to marry that person and see a future with that person just to turn around during the breakup and say the opposite. No one told him to tell her or the public that he wants to marry her. Also, for him to dump her and not even 24 hours later, post their breakup was horrible. Especially when he knew she was getting on a 12 hour flight. You can’t really believe that those things are okay. She got off a plane to people calling and texting her about a breakup that she hasn’t even fully processed with no say in the whole thing. People aren’t projecting, his handling of their breakup was immature and inconsiderate.
@finajosefina
@finajosefina 13 сағат бұрын
@@kennethiavail1719 Did you consider that he DID indeed want to marry her.. up UNTIL the final straw that broke the camels back. It’s not like he was lying at all, he did want to marry her initially then (over time, throughout the relationship) he slowly changed his mind when as time went on he saw some traits in her that he didn’t want in a life partner. People can change their mind. And when it comes to very very important decisions like marriage, people are allowed to change their mind (what was he supposed to do, marry her even though he didn’t want to? We call that a “shut up ring”.) For the duration of the relationship he did want to marry her & see a future with her Then over time throughout the relationship 1 thing + another thing + another thing stacks up on top of each other until slowly that realization is made. And when it was made, he ended the relationship. And by “just to turn around and say the opposite” you mean he took his time to properly think through this life altering decision then came to the reasonable conclusion that he didn’t want to stay in a relationship that he’s not happy in and told the blunt truth. Was he supposed to lie and say “It’s not you, it’s me 🥺” ?? You’re criticizing him for being honest 🤨he told the truth by saying the real reason he didn’t want to continue the relationship was bc he saw some traits he didn’t want in a partner. Sometimes the truth hurts and it’s not what you want to hear but at least it’s honest. Lastly, posting their breakup before she got on a flight was inconsiderate at most. it wasn’t malicious, immature, or mean. Yes he should’ve been more thoughtful/considerate of her feelings towards posting the breakup so soon. But again, accidentally inconsiderate is not the same as malicious. So yes people are just projecting because they have had their relationship abruptly ended or led been on.

David was responsible for use of heavy machinery it doesn’t matter if Jeff said “yes” if it was a construction or any site someone who operates a heavy machinery knows you are responsible for those around you and yourself while operating. Which is why not just anyone can just jump on a machine and operate safely and just like we saw what happened to Jeff sadly is what happens when people don’t follow safety rules and understand simple safety standards around machinery.

@@small_golem pursuing a career in music is seen as a privilege in my eyes because there are people who would like to pursue a career in the arts but ultimately don't because it is not the most "stable". survival triumphs pursuing your passion.
