Very good lesson. One question. When you update the firmware does it leave all your saved stuff on the hard drive alone? I'm using T3.

Hi Idris and Colyn, nothing of yours will be lost, it's only the way that the keyboard operates that will be updated

Hi Dave you really know your stuff so thanks. I have on my Tyros 4 frimware 1.02. Is that the latest? I am not sure if the numbers decrese rather than increse if you see what I mean as you were saying it's 1.01 for T4. I wonder if you can also give me some advice. As you know, the bass speaker/amp has a wooden cabnet suround box/cabinet with what I would say is a type of metalic grey mat sort finish. My T4 is in mint condition as I bought it from a nice chap last October at a VERY good price and I am VERY pleased. However, the speaker/cabinet has some small surface marks that could be small scartches but not deep into the wood but still dissapointing. Would you happen to know how I could get these small marks eradicated to put it back to it's former clear state? I have tried to clean it with a very soft damp cloth but to no avail. Hi guys,I have a question. In contrast to earlier models of Tyros,in the last 5 Model, the lower left part voice with the left hold button in manner of the FREEZE function for this part is associated with the VOICE and not with the STYLE as in the previous models, therefore it is not possible to change the OTS and at the same time keeping constant voice that selected for the left part . it is very dis convenient thing,each time I choose another voice setting for the upper voice for right hand, the left voice altered according to preset of the OTS and the FREEZE function does not control it to remain unchanged.Could it be that it's a bug and if so, is there a solution?Thanks!

Hi, Tyros Tipsters thanks for tutorial please keep up the good work. BUT, ON tyros 4 the firmware can be updated via the internet just log on and it is as easy as falling off a log ( I know I have fallen off one)I think the latest version is 1.05? for T4

I moderate on yamahamusicians.com - and one of our members had a power outage during a Tyros5 FW update. Is there perhaps an (undocumented?) way back, that you know of. I'm guessing that the OS doesn't live on the HD, but in an eprom of some kind . . . perhaps that chip needs to be replaced, if there is no way to "clear" it?

Hi again Dave. Is there a way of setting the T4 firmware to do an auto update when new versions such as 1.03 when and if it comes out for T4? I have my T4 connected to my rooter via a cable. Cheers from Rich

Cheers I will wait for the update. I am getting there with the Tyros 4, started to do a few recordings with it and so on. I may have mentioned how my keyboard is in mint condition. However, the big speaker (wood cabnet) as a couple of possbile surface scatches that are not deep into the wooden pannel. I have tried to wipe it but to avail. Do you know what Yamaha use to give it the paint matt metalic grey finish? If so, I would be very interested in getting a small sprey paint to match. I know it seems trivial but as the rest of the unit is in such perfect condition, it would be nice to patch up these small marks on the speaker

The latest update for firmware appears to be 1.13 not 1.04 as stated for Tyros 5 76 version

Yes, the version as of May 9th 2017 is 1.13. This video was made over a year ago!

Hello, David, is there any danger on making this operation ? I mean, what happens if power cut on the exact moment of the instalation or some kind of problem, I can lose my keyboard ? On computers, making a firmware upgrade is always a dangerous thing. I need to make an update to the latest 1.11, ( I have 1.05 ), but I am very affraid something goes wrong.
