Formerly wrote the society column "The Great Life" for the Hollywood Reporter. Also played Dr. Hasseldorf, a radio personality in Die Hard. Fincher mentions “I didn’t know about his column” and “he’s got a powerful pen.” That’s who the fuck George Christy is.

Everyone here is citing the wrong "George Christy". It's George Christie, the previous leader of the H. Angels Motorcycle Club in LA. During the time the movie was filmed, he was the current leader. Hence why it's funny he wanted the part, to scratch out the detective name... get it? He also never got his hands dirty, causing the DA and local PD to fail so many times trying to catch him. Once they started using wires, he started only writing on white boards and passing notes during meetings.

I'm not sure if this is a joke but Fincher literally says in the clip that he wasn't aware of George Christy's column - I.e. the column that he regularly wrote in the Hollywood Reporter.
