@Proletariat127 ай бұрын
He's still wrong in his rant about burgers. What makes a burger a burger is if you have a pattie, which is something ground up into pattie shape. So you have fish burger, hamburger (beef pattie), turkey burger, veggie burger, all because its a pattie of ground up ingredients. A sandwich does not use a pattie. A fried strip of whole chicken breast is not a pattie, so it doesn't matter what bread you use, a bun, a roll, a loaf, or a croissant, it's a sandwich. Not a burger. This is why even Mcdonalds calls their fillet o fish a fish sandwich. It's fried and breaded fish, not ground up into a pattie.
@bareakon7 ай бұрын
@@Proletariat12 No what makes a hamburger is coming from Hamburg. Similarly, a chicken burger has to come from the Chickenburg province of Germany, everything else is legally a chicken sandwich. See also: Cheeseburg Fishburg Supremeburg Aberdeenangusburg Etc
@alfredandersson8754 ай бұрын
@@Proletariat12words derive meaning from subjective, often unspoken consensus. They are not set in stone. For most people today a burger is anything that features two similar parts - a bottom and a top - along with either protein of some sort or a replacement item, topped with sauce and vegetables. What separates it from a sandwich for most people isn’t a patty but rather when you eat it, what you eat it with, perhaps presentation, and perhaps how healthy it is. Even if you argue semantics, language is fluid and malleable. I’m sure you don’t make a fuss about people calling a singular panini sandwich a panini instead of the originally correct term of panino.

Hey! I know I’m a year late, but I paused at 37:42 to inform you that if it’s a whole piece of chicken it’s a chicken sandwich, but if it’s a processed and formed patty (like an oversized nugget) than it is referred in some regions as a chicken burger or chicken cheeseburger… it just depends but that is a factor. Like a whole steak is a steak sandwich when put between bread slices… but if you grind it and form it… it’s a burger. 👍 Also I really like your stuff you post. It’s crazy you’re not bigger. a little bit of dream interpretation; considering how gender/sexuality generally seems like a major theme in Sock Six, Carol's story in particular feels like an almost natural nightmare-version of the transgender experience. especially in the UK it's an arduous and humiliating process to gain access to required medical resources - from the too-personal questions to the invasions of privacy to the complicated half-supporting half-painful way family treats them about it. hell, Carol's scene even takes place in a bathroom! it's such a gutwrenching way to end that Sock

I feel like sharing one of the very memorable nightmares I had: setting is a completely plain white, walled off mix of a labyrinth and skyscraper city. I was terrified and running away from my mom, but w/o any escape she'd at some point catch up to me to beat me. I woke up in tears right before she got me. it was a trauma dream, obviously. my mom never beat me tho. I got the slap on the face one or two times, but that together with her struggling with her own traumata, emotional control and the inability to admit fault/going defensive really fast did plenty of damage. the most recent nightmare I had about a year ago was me just walking along a narrow path through the woods. the path was lit by the sunlight and the shrubs on every side were pretty, but very thick so I could only go on the path. in contrat behind me was someone walking. someone I know. a girl I used to be _very_ close with. her presence alone terrified me and I silently plead over and over again not to be recognized. I also woke up in tears and incredibly terrified. that person behind me was just the sadistic(she called herself that) emotional abuser that had me in her clutches and partially completely under her control for almost a decade. that dream reflects too well the fear of the chains comming out again to drag me back into that hell. this isn't trauma dumping btw. I deliberately chose nightmares not just because I barely remember any of my few dreams and those two stayed very clear in my memory, but also because horror is interesting and so is analysing the dreams that can come from traumatic experiences and how the symbolism within represent specific aspects that could further help to identify what exactly triggers for example reliving the trauma through flashbacks. the subconscious could help to figure out how to better cope with these things through what one can learn from their nightmares. ..I swear in a life where I showed more interest in school I would've become a psychologist or something. incredibly interesting tho. dreams are a window into one's own subconsciousness and the self deep within doesn't lie like our conscious mind does. I'm rambling too much, sorry.(it's 1am lol)

37:30 honestly I get that feeling. I'm from the US, Specifically the Pacific North West (Perhaps this is just a northern thing). Baaasically I think the reason why we call them hamburgers is because, the ground beef is called "Hamburger" or "Hamburger meat" ---- If I took ground chicken, formed it into patties and made 'hamburgers' with it.. The vast majority of the people I know here would say "Oh, you made chicken burgers :)", same for turkey or lamb. I think we're just fixated on the idea of ground (and shaped) meat being a "burger". To further upset things, I could take roast beef (or steak pieces) and put it on a bun, with lettuce tomato and sauce, and people would be like "That's a beef sandwich!" -- Also, I really liked this video. Salad fingers basically lives rent free in my brain, but I never looked beyond that. I should watch more of their work, it's cool.

To Americans burgers are made with ground meat patties. You can have a chicken burger just like you can have a turkey burger or even black bean burger (not meat, but still smooshed and pressed into a patty), but that chicken would have to be ground. Fried or grilled chicken would mean it's a sandwich. You can have beef with all the same toppings and it would be called a sandwich if it's a whole piece of meat and not ground. I used to get a steak sandwich at this place that had grilled onions and peppers, cheese and tomato and it was delicious, but not a burger.

This type of nonsensical fever dream-like stuff is so viscerally unsettling to me. It makes me uncomfortable to my core, scares me on this primal level that's hard to put into words. A feeling somewhere deep inside you that you can't quite put your finger on nor explain in any way, but it's as if your whole body was screaming at you that _something_ is very, very wrong, without any conscious thought coming into it. I think it's because of how inexplicable it is. You have zero control, zero understanding, you're trying to make sense of it but there is none, and that sends your poor rational brain into a sort of panic... ...or something like that. It's hard to explain exactly. But it feels like losing your footing, having the rug pulled from under you. I feel like all my childhood fears and night terrors (and there were many) were in some way rooted in this. David Firth really kinds nails what those felt like. So anyway thanks for this video.

It's a chicken "burger" if the chicken patty is made of ground (minced) chicken meat, the way a hamburger is made of ground (minced) beef. An interesting tidbit I read a while ago, that scientists think that laughter MIGHT really be related to fear. Where does laughter come from? Its an odd thing to have if you think about it. Why did we need this? So, Imagine you are a hunter gatherer a long time ago. You and your hunting party hear something in the brush. Everyone tenses up, then a bunny jumps out and ALL that tension, all that adrenaline, needs to be flushed out. In a twofold benefit, slapping a bunch of happy chemicals in to calm you, but... that makes you laugh, really really happy. The laugh from the first person to see the bunny spreads... its a natural "all clear" alert. I think thats why comedy and discomfort works so well together, they are meant too. Want an audience to laugh, make em uncomfortable... then relieve the tension. For added fun, once they calm a bit and the adrenaline is leaving, scare the holy shit out of them... now its not a comedy its a horror movie... or... maybe both lol
