I'm David's daughter-in-law and am so happy to say that after almost 6 years, he is well :) Kidneys are finally giving him some issues, but he is still working; hoping to retire this summer!

Truly amazing! I've completed the evaluation and preparing to be listed myself. So much to take in, but I feel blessed!

Dear Mr. David Flurett, My name is James Lowe, in Texas, I am glad to hear there is another "DO OR DIE" person out there who has had a double lung transplant like me. I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and was given 6 months to live. I had a lot of problems like being in coma for almost 2 months. All in all it was a success and I am grateful to my doctors. I am glad to hear your story and hope you are doing well. James Lowe, Henderson, Texas.

God bless you David Flurett. Though I don't know you, I can tell you worked hard and kept hope. This disease has been systematically killing everyone on my dads side of the family. My dad's mom, his aunts, and two older sisters have all been killed by it. he has two older brothers diagnosed and 1 sister. It is a death sentence for all of them. My dad is next in line by age to get it and he just got "the cough", which is a really bad sign. Odds are I will one day get it too. May you be blessed and use your blessings for good to honor those who gave you your lungs and those who weren't so blessed.

A dear friend of mine has pulmonary fibrosis from a chronic genetic illness and she’s in surgery receiving her donor lung s as we speak. Anyone out there, please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers and hoping that the patient featured in this story is still continuing to do very well with his new lungs. I can’t think of anything better than to give someone a second chance at life. I can’t Think of a better gift you can give than the gift of life. God bless the husband and wife in this story.
