I was 21, now 60. Just finished college, like they did in the movie. Every time I hear this or the instrumental I tear up. Maybe just me, but even then, I felt the 80’s were going to be the best decade we would see in our lifetime.

Say what you will but there's no disputing that the 80's had THE greatest soundtracks!
@misplacednewyawker3 жыл бұрын
That is debatable with the 70's , but one things for sure. This film sucked bigtime. It was no BREAKFAST CLUB.
@keylo53753 жыл бұрын
and yet most people of age that decade spent most of the early 90's calling it the worse for music and clothing and thanked god the 80s were over, funny what nostalgia does for you
@UrielX12122 жыл бұрын
@@keylo5375 The flip side of nostalgia is saying this era sucked either in it or shortly thereafter. That kind of sets up nostalgia while the truth lies somewhere in between. Music though now has been awful for 2 decades...at least for me.

I relistened to this , it’s a masterpiece. The lyrics season a melody that, by itself, is stunningly beautiful. I cried when the words hit home. Aren’t we all the best version of ourselves “for just a moment?”

I was 10 when this movie came out and didn't fully understand the depth of it given my age. I'm 49 now... and I totally got it in my 20s as I was experiencing this for myself. I watch the movie often as I have it on DVD. One of my favorites. Never will there be movies like the ones from the 1980s. I'm glad I was around for it.

This brings back that magical time at that young age, close groups of friends and finding first love while young and carefree, life was exciting, everything was an adventure; it's fleeting and gone in a short time, but it was so intense the memories will never die - this music brings that whole moment in time back to life.

Today this song , out of nowhere just popped into my head. Don't know why. I actually don't know the title. I just remember the movie. I didn't watch it or anything. I only found out about St. Elmo's fire through celebrity news decades after it came out. So I searched for the theme song of the movie. Now I know the title and the song. A masterpiece. The kind of song that people will listen to for generations to come.

Longing for the truest and best versions of ourselves that only burn bright for just a moment. But remember, that part of us never truly disappears, it just moves deeper inside us, covered by the scars of time, but embedded in our hearts, the very core of our being. Reach down inside yourselves, and you will find it burning still like a glittering star in the distant night. You are still you.

I already loved this song during the 80's... and still loved it more now in 2021... great song!!! And i really do appreciate the skills and talent of DAVID FOSTER... he's so amazing that even before he is already genius in songs(composition, melodies, arrangements). And even his voice, wow he is a story teller through songs and music! Thank you so much SIR DAVID FOSTER for your songs that inspired and touched hearts and lives!!! Love from the Philippines!!!

First, THANK YOU for sharing the lyrics with this video & song. Next, this song is on regular rotation for the smooth jazz station I listen to on Amazon. LOVE IT! I always wondered if this song had lyrics! LOL This upload is a little slower than what I've been hearing but the words with the melody are so moving. I was in high school when this movie came out but I never saw it (and still haven't). I might see it now! The only reason I remember this movie at all is because the fraternity row scene was filmed at my alma mater!

I had a moment of magic that flirted for a moment and it was gone. It was my most romantic walk amidst the wind and the rain. there was no stolen kiss or holding of hands. It was a walk of minds that connected telepathically. She left for U.K. Never saw her again. I have kept that magical moment. Maybe in the next life it will be longer than a moment.
