I bought this album back in 79 when disco was in full swing. Some of us resisted this fad,We prevailed. This gave David an opportunity to express and make his own music and I like his style.

I mean the kinda things he did to the strings in Echoes at Pompeii. The man is definitely very sensual with his music!

Highly agreed! He knows exactly what he’s doing. He puts emotions into a song that I wish I could feel. He was just born cool, and incidentally crazy good looking too

About Face was a good one as well. He's got a new one, Luck and Strange, that's only days from its release date. There are three songs from it that have already been released as singles. This album is going to be good.

I agree with Angel, his voice is unique. Weather with Pink Floyd or solo he just sounds ...well, like David Gilmour. That's just one half of the man's talents as he is also one of the greatest rock guitarists of our time. Again, as Angel says, it's not how fast or how slick he plays, it's his touch, his tone and his feel that give you goose bumps. What this guy does with six strings is , again, pure David Gilmour magic.

I have been listening to this album since buying it in a small town in Germany in 1978. Tonight is the very first time that I have the good fortune to see any of this promotional footage nearly 37 years later! The world view, emotional state expressed in the lyrics mirrors my current somewhat depressed state of mind. Chicken or egg?
@ragsiruh11 жыл бұрын
You are right. David did take over for Syd. Its the only reason Mason and Waters approached Gilmour in 68. Because Syd became erratic and was all but gone. I am glad that he took over for Syd because his voice and guitaring is so much more better. He was a much better vehicle for Roger's lyrics and also served as muse for Rick's creations. It was a match made in heaven that the four of them came together
@JDSly14 ай бұрын
Musically, they were indeed a match made in heaven, but it is just so tragic that there were personality clashes and control issues in the band. Dave and Roger can barely stand to be around each other to this day. How they managed to set aside their differences to play together one last time for Live 8 in 2005 is beyond me.

This is the best young DG video I've seen. What a treasure. In PF's early days of concert tours, we saw their out-of-this-world light shows that obscured their beautiful faces, making these types of videos a rarity, indeed. Videos of Gilmour up close during his later years are many, but this is pure gold! More please?? 😍🤗💗🎸🎙️🎶☮️

Have you not seen the original ‘Live in Pompeii’? No light show, no audience but thousands of dead. Loads of great video of the band…and that was 1973-4.
