No one can play a Fender like Gilmour! His leads are amazing I could listen to his playing all day long! He leaves space in his music like no other artist instead of cramming as many notes in a space he chooses just the right leads to insert! Like butter!
@dominickbalsamo13211 жыл бұрын
It's clean and satisfying. Like you said the way he lets his music breathe is brilliant. I've been playing guitar a while, and while I can play a lot of his stuff note for note it will never have that clean perfect even feel to it that Dave gets out of his guitar.
@franciscoduran717711 жыл бұрын
Dominick Balsamo Yeah, but as long as you keep trying to get that feel you will improve your skills! There's so much we can learn from Gilmour's playing.
@andythomas70610 жыл бұрын
He doesn't have the technical ability to play any other way. His leads aren't amazing, they're just a never ending series of blues cliches played through the best equipment money can buy! Wanna know how to get that tone? Money!

Gilmour with Strat serial number 000001. How iconic is that? Such a brilliant guitarist. Every note is carefully chosen, every note carefully played. No wasted motion or unneeded clutter. Every song invokes a strong emotion from the listener, and is moved in some way, shape or form. Not many musicians can do that, and do it for 30+ years.
@giuseppepiccirillo850210 жыл бұрын
The centerpiece of Pink Floyd, is a guitarist with a sound and feel pretty unique. Recognizable after listening to a few notes, has a style very melodic and complex, despite the choice of notes always points to a very simple true virtuoso of the instrument, has never sounded hard and fast but always from the heart. Gilmour's work as a musician can not be limited only to the guitar. Great sound experimenter, has been able to radically innovate the sound of the modern electric guitar. He has also been able to use all possible expressive capabilities of the tool for creating harmonious environments ethereal, mysterious, majestic, distressing ... ie all the assets of the Pink Floyd sound. A guitarist like every guitarist should be. A master in every sense, the modern day. I will never stop to listen to "the dark side of the moon" in "Animals", in "wish you where here".

I think that the major characteristic of Gilmour's playing is his unbelievable understanding of timing in music. Instead of trying to figure out ways to break his wrist and do wild techniques, he focuses on giving you THE defining note on THE defining moment. Every detail is audible. He is the Henri Cartier Bresson of guitar playng. His relationship with time is out of this world and his guitar is like a talking human being.
@johnnywebb265210 жыл бұрын
David Gilmour, my favourite player, awesome tone, melodic, singing notes. I see all these guitarists seeking that classy, elusive, mystical tone - well it's all in your fingers. I have read many record producers say Dave "has the best hands in the business". With all the amp modelling now, patches, a shitload of effects - no one sounds like Mr. Gilmour, and many can play the lead to "Comfortably Numb", but who created it? We can all read Shakespeare, but the author is the genius. All great players have their unique tone/signature call to arms, call it what you like, even the very proficient bedroom player can create his own individual sound. Let's hope the new breed of guitar technique god can combine originality, creative spark & imagination (plus a touch of genius) to put "rock" music back on the top of the pile where it belongs, cheers and hope 2015 is a good year with all the shit that's happening in the world today.

I’ll tell ya, when I saw him way back in the early 70’s several times, he just took you on a dream state. That’s what he did even nowadays, he takes me back to those glory days. Rock on ✌🏻😎
