There’s some traits about Goggins I notice that makes him great. He is a forever student on his mind observing, learning, out performing what his mind says. And on surface he seems tough, you’d think it always sounds like he’s berating himself … Oh no, he’s being real to himself and study those limiting beliefs to out perform it. I believe he’s self compassion because while being real to himself on where he is, he’s always there accepting what is, accepting himself, and then push the limiting beliefs and he’s relentless. Not self judging helped him removing obstacles to push beyond the limits … That’s why he achieves all these today … and yet he’s so focused on the process… he’s not like other teachers even out there trying to look good and famous… just someone showing us what humans are capable of. Hats off and salute!

Many ppl grow up with trauma. But the majority of them lean more towards alcohol drugs sex an other types of worldly pleasure that gives them a false sense of happiness. The problem with that is is that it's another form of ratrace. Goggins Purpose is Ego Compensation. Always needing to compensate. Needing to do something to feel superior to others (“hardest man in the world”) to compensate for deep down still feeling inferior. So he does have a “purpose” and a “golden carrot” he just doesn’t realize it and acts like it’s just raw willpower. It’s not. He also uses visualization to self-motivate and doesn’t realize that’s what he’s doing and acts like it’s “discipline.” It’s not. It’s a self-motivation technique. It’s good to do an extremely powerful, and it’s a motivation technique, not discipline.

It's easy for a person to learn a visualization technique and how to anchor it to an existing habit (e.g. "every day after I eat my breakfast I will visualize achieving my goals") in order to fuel them up and drive their choices, thereby producing "discipline." Again I like Goggins in some aspects but the whole obsession with Discipline is overblown and misleading. Discipline is just one tool in the toolbox and you need much more than that if you're going to be successful.

If David Goggins had any integrity, he would have had the humility to tell Tony, I am not an elite MMA trainer. I have never even prepped an elite UFC fighter for a single UFC fight. There are elite MMA trainers that are phenomenal that have huge records of success. Please train with them. They have done the hard work and studied for years. No Goggins has not put any work in. But he has "studied the dark". A self promoter to the max. I am a fan of Tony and I am saddened by this.
