You have no idea how much I needed this message at this point in my life. I am at a fork in the road. I am a 46-year-old OIF combat vet with PTSD. My wife asked me for a divorce late last year, and I have no more family except my 12 year old daughter whom I will no longer be able to see on a daily basis. In January, I was standing on a chair in my basement with an electrical cord wrapped around my neck. I am about to move into a van, finish writing a series of books, and pursue the dreams I thought I wasn't allowed to believe in. If it weren't for messages like this, I would've given up months ago. Thank you. Update: 11/14/22 - First let me say "WOW" and "THANK YOU" to all of you who supported me and my post. I had no idea at the time that my comment would reach that many caring and like-minded people. At the risk of equating my self-worth to the "likes" and positive replies (because David says to be cautious of outside validation), I wanted to let you all know how I am doing. The divorce went through and was settled with little hostility. My ex and I are doing the best we can to stay cordial for the sake of our beautiful daughter. Thanks to David Goggin's book (I finished it tonight), I am now hiking 10 miles a day with a 20lb backpack in northeast Missouri, no matter what the weather. I've lost 43 lbs. and still working toward a 160 lb. goal weight. I am no longer considering suicide as an answer to my pain. I have come to the profound yet simple conclusion that, if I am going to put my life in danger, it should at least be for something meaningful or that I want to do, like an extreme sport. I now embrace pain and suffering as a tool that sharpens me mentally and physically. Again, thank you to David for the attitude adjustment in this area. My #vanlife 2011 E-350 cargo van is coming along nicely. It's been tuned up, cleaned top to bottom, and ready for interior insulation, framing, and appliance install. I have a long list of places I plan to visit and new endeavors I want to try my hand at. I will be enrolling at a Christian University next fall in pursuit of a B.S. in psychology. Finally, while my first book "Cotton Coated Conspiracy" was published in 2021 (before my slide into divorce and depression), I am working on "Book Two" of the series at this very moment. In short, I'm looking forward to traveling across this great country of ours while working relentlessly towards my goals, failing at them, again, again, again, and again, and then succeeding. Thanks again to all of you for the love and to David Goggins for changing my messed up, victims mentality. STAY HARD! 🙏💪💪💪💪💪💪!!!!!

There's a peace that comes when you can admit your wrongs, your failures and know that not only are you working on changing it and improving yourself and your situation but also it's when you truly do not care what others think because you know in your heart, you're doing your best, youre making those attempts, you are being true to yourself and no one can stop you and no one can hurt you with their negative opinions. And don't ever compare yourself to others- they weren't born in your skin, they weren't born with your genes, your brain, your personality, your family history, they ARENT YOU. The key is to strive to be better than you were yesterday. Make goals and meet those goals. It's not about others, it's about being the best YOU that YOU can be. That's it. It’s none of their business especially if what I’m planning on doing is challenging. So I find a way to get done whatever it is I set my mind too. I am still learning to not care , its not easy, God knows its not but i know it will get better, i hope, am still working on it. I am a really bad , evil, wicked, selfish person but i show up when they needed me to and they never showed up for me. I cheer for them all but they laughed in my face and treated me like trash, they never stood high cheering me on. I loved them all with my whole heart and it meant nothing, i was just a pay cheque, i was just an opportunity, or it was suppose to be that way. I asked for help and they used it to mock me and when things got good for me , they came asking for things from me. Am just ranting i know but its one of those days i feel really hurt and cant stop remembering how badly i have treated over and over by people i knew my whole life.

Achieved best pass of flight test GFT that examiner had ever had. “He said” Won Top trophy for Pilot Proficiency, “Gosh I didn’t expect that trophy”. A few years later became part owner of Aerobatic team. “Forgive me I am not boasting at all! “I just Dreamt” in quiet self achievement! I didn’t expect to win Trophies! Some said to me YOU CANT! Yes I can…I did! I only say this to encourage you Marlena, or anyone to help. Because I want YOU to Dream to succeed and WIN !!! YOU CAN. NEVER GIVE IN NEVER GIVE UP. Think about this! Until I head into dead end, my boyfriend of 15yrs. (Narcissist), we have two kids together. he took it upon himself to book a trip to Vegas to visit friends, on the day of my big day. Then turns it around and says it’s my “Graduation present”. Spent three days arguing over I mentioning my graduation was coming up but all those time he didn’t knowledge me (numerous of time). On top of that, my son is suspended from school, so he decides to take him. How is that teaching your child, without any repercussions for his mistakes.definitely a poor mentor, no father skills, and no self worth (which he knows). Overall, he’s using my kids to hurt me, definitely knows I can’t go anywhere without them. Then threatens me that he’ll sell the house, I careless what he does, all I need is my kids. I’m pushed too far, I’m corralled, I refused to be in that position. My faith has kept me on my feet and continue to push forward. I put myself in this position and strength from the higher power. I was in an car accident in the past with a co-worker who picked me from to take me to work. I had no idea she had a few drinks before she pick me up. We got into an horrible accident. I was able to rehabilitate myself. If you can overcome anything, anyone can. I may be broken now, it’s only temporary, I’ll be fine. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, definitely appreciate your positive feedback. God bless you, sending your a virtual hug. You have a great day or night.

My sister and I basically grew up the same but later on down the line we became completely different people, even though we grew up in the same scenes. But at some point I stopped caring what other people thought. And she still cares a great deal. I told her it's okay to care but it's not okay to seek validation that isn't your own. And that people that make it, usually aren't famous or great actors or amazing artists, but mentally they made, they won. To be, I guess, winning is truly only caring what you think. I've gained respect from people because I show I'm committed. Even though I've gained their respect, either way it still motivates me to be better. Whether they're supporters or haters, I committed for myself. I stopped caring, for myself. I stopped thinking I was the only one going through hardships. I became self-aware and wanted better for myself. I hope one day she sees this, because I truly believe life starts when you start living for yourself.

This message was made for me. I have a hard life, mostly self induced. Always worried about what other people say and think. From this Pont forward I am going to do everything I can to lead by example. I will put my heavenly father first, one second, one minute, one hour, one day a time.

I've gotten a lot out of this. And everything he says is true!! And the key facture is when you get to that place, where you don't care what others think or say about you!! You're in this world for YOU & and your trusted small circle!!

Words like his made me come out two years ago. I just didn’t care anymore about people who maybe judging me. Life is too short to not be your true self and to not be happy!

I want to thank you I'm in a bad spot in my life and your words resonated with me and made me think. I'm my own enemy. I noticed about myself is that I say the good thing but I don't do what I say. I noticed I hide behind the curtain of laziness. But I always think it's to late to do that now I'm 38 years old so I'm not going to do it. I still have not yet found the answer to my problem but your words have gave me a directions to start the path. thank you from the bottom of my heart. I look forward to seeing more from you.
