Hello and yes totally adore this song! I was so blessed to finally see David’s anniversary tour in Dublin last year. And he only brought on Mark Almond for this and then Tainted Love! Wonderful end to a motorcycle tour of Ireland.

I introduced my father-in-law to David Gray in 2011. My wife and mother and father-in-law saw David Gray at Ryman Auditorium live in August 2014. We had a blast, but my father-in-law really, really loved seeing David Gray live. My father-in-law developed a very aggressive form of dementia in 2023. The last time I saw him when he was conscious was in the hospital. Nurses were coming in his room one after the other. He was very agitated by the nurses checking his temp, changing his iv, taking his blood pressure. By this point he was not able to communicate with us. I started playing David Gray on my phone and he instantly calmed as we listened to the music. Say Hello Wave Good-bye on the set list. About twenty seconds into this song, he turned his head and looked me in the eye. It was a sweet moment. One I will never forget. I was fighting back tears, but it was obvious I was able to lose it. He just looked at me in the eyes. I was telling him everything will be ok. It's like he was saying to me it's going to be ok and it was like he was saying good-bye. My wife wanted to bring him to our home to die. He died on July 17, 2024, surrounded by family with David Gray music playing. Rest in peace Fletcher. You were one of a kind. You will be missed. Thanks for being like a father to me.

This song reminds me of a woman i spent some time with after the break up of my marriage some 20 odd years ago now. We would give each other some comfort, as she had been through some hard times aswell. We would often play this song, so i learned to play it on the guitar and we would sing it together. I left to come back up north where i am from after 6 months or so. I found out from a friend that she had died about 4 years later. I only spent 6 months with her, but she really helped me in the aftermath of my marriage, and i helped her with what she was going through. Alec, there are far too many alienated children and parents (mums and dads) out there and they all long for each other to re-establish contact & relationships. It is never too late to make more beautiful memories like you just shared. Wishing you well

One of my favourite cover songs, ever. His voice; that melody. Possibly perfect - I certainly thought so at the time...older now, but I was right.

I agree! This is one of the best audio CDs I ever listened to.I remember listening to a thirty-second preview for a slightly different version of "Please Forgive Me" in MusicMatch Jukebox on my HP Pavilion 710 CTO PC (which was my first HP PC) with Windows XP Home Edition on it back in 2002. I never listened to the full-length version of it until I found it here on KZbin as a music video a decade later in 2012.

David you are a true talent and this song speaks to many men. Who thought they had their forever. And discovered. It was not. I have met so many countless male friends who experienced the same. And in their Take Two, have found someone who didn't betray them, who truly loved them. That is a testimony to those who betrayed their true love, who discarded them so selfishly, and many times, their entire family. To all the men of the world who get to meet their actual true love, after such a failure, not of their choosing. All the best to those men. There is hope. There is true love out there.

Take a look, in my face, for the last time. I never knew you, you never knew me, say 'hello/goodbye'. Say hello and wave goodbye. I think he's talking about the instance of human bonding, where it is awesome and then it turns sour and and it all seems to happen in one single instance. The man is a genius and I only have my own interpretation of his music - I just hope that everyone else listening enjoys it in whatever way.
