That’s so so so spot on. I listened to this album on repeat as my brother and I drove through Scotland on a long golf trip. Now I listen and I am back in that car…just he and I again. Laughter and tears at the same time. How I miss him. DG was his favorite artist…just glad we got to see him live a couple of times together. I hope the memories and feelings you get from listening are as happy as the times we had when we did.

This song and Babylon were in heavy rotation while I was a post-grad student, living outta state in Austin, Texas. Driving around town, getting to know the city during the late afternoons and into the evenings, just chilling, content. I thought I was setting up my future. Life turned out quite different from those more optimistic times. Looking back, it all just fossilized into nostalgia, which is just another word for "missed opportunities" . . . regret.

Truly one of the greatest albums. For me a reminder of a past life and love. Each song a time, place and feeling. And for that an album close to my heart.

I remember listening to a thirty-second preview for a slightly different version of this song in MusicMatch Jukebox on my first HP Pavilion PC with Windows XP Home Edition on it back in 2002. I never listened to the full-length version of it until I found it here on KZbin a decade later in 2012. This song does bring back memories, so I have the actual "White Ladder" CD now. Thank you for uploading this video!

Back when this album came out I was working in a restaurant in Galway, Ireland. My fellow waiting staff played it incessantly. At the time I was young and a music snob and recoiled against anything that was then currently popular. Although for popular modern music I didn't think David Gray was terrible. However, because he was popular I couldn't properly open my ears to what I have over the past few years come to appreciate is one of the best popular music albums of all time. It is an exquisite work of aural beauty. As a lover of Soul music this album just oozes raw emotion. It is perfection.

Every time I hear this song I just well up as it reminds me of my little boy who I've not seen in over ten years . I used to hold him in my arms while this song played nice and quiet in the background.

I remember my dad coming out of the marines and getting my family a HP computer. I was 8 years old and would play this song while I played Red Faction, and Real War on pc. I remember how hard it was to find it online back then without buying for it haha. Now I'm 29 tomorrow and I dedicated this song to .y best friend who's a single mother and I'm a single father. No songs captures my love better than this. I'm going to marry her one day. Watch. I'll be back.
