I think the referee got fed up with Haye's falling over all the time whenever Klitschko leaned on him. In the end, he called it a knockdown to prevent Haye from continuing to go down so easily in the clinches. True it was not entirely fair tactics from Klitschko, but Haye was being overly theatrical at times.

Hayes best performance compared to the level of opposition he faced was against Wladimir Klitschko. I've seen that fight several times and Haye's never been as good or as fit as he was in that fight. He can be proud of that performance even though it wasn't enough to beat a much heavier and taller prime Klitschko. It's funny to go back and watch that fight right after watching Haye vs Bellew 2. What a world of difference in footwork and movement. Haye didn't fight many world class fighters unfortunatly but he did beat some good cruiser weights. He has a great personality and is a true entertainer. I think Haye at his best was an amazing fighter but unfortunatly for him he struggled with his body and fitness for most of his career. And there's equally as many bad perfromances as there are good performances. He was better at selling and talking up himself and his fights than actually fightning them.
@asdadfafafafffallslsldd80686 жыл бұрын
I know. But I think his performance was good. A prime Wladimir Klitschko is uncomparable to Chisora right. That's why I added "compared to level of opposition he faced" It's easy to look good against lower level opposition. I was completely wrong about the Haye vs Bellew rematch. I believed in Haye and looked like a fool for doing so. Haye clearly wasn't as fit or injury free as he claimed. And I guess you make a fair point of calling him a lying con artist. I just enjoyed him in press conferences etc. He made some noise and it was entertaining. He could have saved us from the comeback for some last pay days though.
@dangermouse_6 жыл бұрын
and he needed the officials help beating Chisora too. Bell ringing 10 seconds early in one round when Chisora had him in trouble and the referee pulling Chisora off him everytime he got inside for no reason

I think the fact that you can (and are willing to) produce nearly an hour of content on Haye is a good indication as to how much of a great career he's had. Very sad to see him go on too long and have it end like it did, but he brought boxing back to the mainstream after a good few years of unappealing boxing. On balance, I think he'll be looked back on quite fondly. Like him or not

Let’s not forget David Haye’s heart to climb up off the canvas multiple times in his career including his last fight which despite him losing he went out on his shield. Also fighting on one leg until the 11 in the first Bellew fight, climbing through the ropes and actually made the count but the towel was thrown in. David was definitely a warrior in and outside the ring (Munich lol). Big up Haye but definitely retire now I don’t want to see him fight again.

Would say that haye deserves credit for bringing beitish cruiser and heavyweight division out of obscurity but I dont think he beat good enough opponents at their respective primes at either weight class to be put in the realm of greatness or legend status but nonetheless I think he was tbe beginning of the heavyweight shake up that is continuing right now
@frankjaeger3936 жыл бұрын
He had some electric performances and took risks in the ring and was exciting for the most part in the ring but his resume is a business first resume rather than a legacy resume, he was careful picking his opponents and didn't in the most part take the biggest risks that was fan pleasing, he should of fought more often and taken on more world class fighters in his prime, he could of fought Vitali he could of got himself a Wladimir rematch, Povetkin for regular belt was a avenue he could of taken, Steve cunningham in the cruiserweight division, instead he was fighting guys like Harrison and a still useful but declining Ruiz, he was world class he proved that when he did fight world class fighters and contenders but he was all about taken the fights for the most money for the smallest risk all to often and that has harmed his legacy.

recently re-watched klitschko v's haye. agreed klitschko pulled haye down to the floor thus eventually the point deduction for it. i don't think klitschko did it again after the point deduction. after the point deduction i thought haye tried to fool the ref into thinking that klitschko was still pulling him to the floor. i kind of thought that was a bit dirty of haye and i have no preference or bias at all to either fighter. he did stretch the truth a bit (a lot). agree haye was needed at the time in HW boxing prior to the klitschko fight. yeah he brought excitement. that's how i'll remember him... a guy who brought excitement. very good video - liked - thx!

I really liked David Haye, I found it very sad and typical of boxing to see his career end to Bellew in such a way. I don’t think his resume reflected his talent, he had good quick feet, fast hands, explosive puncher, and towards the end of his career shown massive heart. I’d have loved to the prime cruiserweight Haye in this generation of cruisers. I’m not saying he’d beat them all, but he’d certainly be a handful and would probably be favourite against all of them apart from Usyk.

Outside the ring he was not a very likeable and reliable person but inside the ring he was always great to watch, i loved his hit and don't get hit, mid range, outside, sniping / ambush, explosive counter punching style. I always felt that was a great style and philosophy to have in a boxing ring, incorporating defensive elusiveness and safety with exciting hard hitting offence, but unfortunately it is a young mans style and at 37, 20 pounds heavier than optimum weight and lack of fighting in a consistent basis it was always destined to fail for him. I have been a massive david haye fan since '07 and just really want him to retire
