ragsash I also think it makes sense to have a different voice for the two. Just because he started as an exact copy doesn't necessarily mean they would age the same way (maybe in a controlled environment) Any number of events could have changed either one of their voices at anytime. Besides, Solid Snake has the Foxdie virus and who knows what all it could have done to his insides.

I think Kojima's choice of voice actor might be wise due to the fact that Big Boss will be 49 in Phantom Pain... to put that in perspective, he died at the age of 79 in MGS4 while voiced by Richard Doyle. So, his voice would naturally have to gradually change from Hayter's to Doyle's to provide an explanation to this... Besides, I remember that a certain mad man with a blue box once said "We all change, when you think about it, we’re all different people all through our lives. And that’s okay. That’s good. You gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be." Still, I think Hayter could have at least voiced Big Boss in Ground Zeros and then have Keither voice him in Phantom Pain to provide credence to the possibility that his voice changed due to disuse. Because honestly, I can accept Snake's voice changing after 9 years in a coma... But Ground Zeroes is set in 1975, one year after Peace Walker, so the best theory I can come up with now is that everyone's voice magically starts to sound older when they turn 40.

Actually I think the dev team said in one of the interviews that they changed actors because Hayter has an awesome voice but couldn't really act in face motion capture, something Kiefer Sutherland is proficient in, and he's a pretty cool voice actor as well, so.

Besides, if they were concerned about facial performance, there are dozens of actors who wipe their floors with Sutherland (Andy Serkis and Ron Perlman, for starters.) Kojima simply wanted to kick Hayter out because "reasons." Dwayne Johnson has better emotive range than Sutherland, for fucks sake.

Well now I think about what I've been thinking all along; That something like a big revealing surprise coming. Kojima's trying to keep a lid on the whole affair. And I read an article last week where he never outright said that Hayter won't return. Also there's the Graphic Novels in the Legacy Collection where David is voicing Solid Snake. So my thinking is a young Solid Snake will be played by David Hayter.
