Spielberg's adaptation of Michael Crichton's bestselling novel set a new bar for the modern blockbuster, both commercially and technologically. Jurassic's photorealistic, computer-generated dinosaurs revolutionized Hollywood special effects, and so galvanized Spielberg's friend Stanley Kubrick that he restarted development on his long-gestating sci-fi project A.I., which Spielberg would end up completing after Kubrick's death.

Interesting Koepp used the opening scene from the novel in the original screenplay. I personally think that whole sequence would have been better than what ended up being in the final screenplay.

I barely remember the book but it's probably time for another read. Doesn't a guy get his back ripped open by a raptor and In-Gen brings him to the doctor and is like "Oh yeah, a backhoe did it" or something? Haven't watched the interview yet.
