I met Mr David Kossoff back in the 60s. I was just a child back then and he was working for a childrens charity. He gave out gifts to under privileged children. I found him a wonderful warm and kind person. He took time to talk to each child and showed interest in everyone. We never knew how important an actor he was and how many great movies he stared in. Each time I see him in movies now it brings back fond memories of a kind gentle person. God bless you David Kossoff.

I knew Jennie and David Kossoff. Their lives were changed forever, when Paul passed away. I have never been the same since. Paul died 19th March, 1976. David died 23rd March, 2005. Free's Bass Player Andy Fraser died March 16th, 2015. So very sad.

Spooky how the dates of the deaths of people who are connected to each other coinsides . My grandmother died Oct. 18th, my father died Oct. 16th, my grandfather passed on Oct, 13th. Very odd. Randy Rhoads and Paul Kossoff died on the same date (not year) March 19. Two of my top 5 Guitar players.

I met David Kossoff, on a school outing where we went to hear him live, reading Bible stories. A wonderful man, he totally understood children, allowing us plenty of intervals to fidget God rest you David x

David Kossof did a deeply moving four-part spoken-word lecture called "Late Great Paul" about his son that was on KZbin but has now disappeared. It is a strong anti-drugs statement coming from a father who tragically lost a very talented child to the scourge of drugs. He pulls no punches in the piece. I wish someone would explain why it has been removed.

First saw this on a TV programme back in the 80's and then a different performance on KZbin a couple of years ago. I agree it should still be available to show the ultimate tragedy of drugs and his son Paul's talent, with the excellence of David portraying this.

Yes, I saw it when it briefly appeared online. It's an amazing document and as raw a statement on unmitigated sorrow and grief as I've ever seen. Grief tinged with anger. He was broken when Paul died but in some ways it gave him a renewed purpose...

@MegaAvenger2010 There was, and only will be, ONE Paul Kossoff. I was lucky enough to see Free live on a number of occassions, supported Free and Mott The Hoople on tour in England in 1972 and, played with Koss, in one of the versions of back Street Crawler, for a short while. So I know that NOBODY plays guitar like Koss. Stay cool and keep enjoying his music. Regards

i saw free and paul at the van dike in plymouth in my teens. he was a huge influence in my life. i remember writing in my diary that he had more talent in his little finger than id have in the rest of my life. that still stands today for me. i wish i had spoken to him. i was too much in awe at that time.

David Kossoff was a great man and from great men come great children - I just hope the youngsters will heed the warnings on drug abuse and take all that David spoke about, not just in this speech, but the whole anti-drugs campaign on board. If we can rid the world of these killers along with Guns the world might be that much a better place. May you both rest in peace and thank you for the music of free and the great words of David Kossoff.

Peter M. Adamson it Just goes to show that addiction is not always the result of a traumatic expirience or poor parenting. Mr David Kossoff is a man of absolute integrity and honours and celebrates his gifted son and at the same time warns of the dangers of drugs particularly heroin. It's a great pity what heroin did to Paul and many other musician's. what i admire about David is he's so proud of what paul achieved and not ashamed at all. We could all learn from this man. I lost a brother to heroin and I've been there myself but my father just shamed us and felt ashamed himself i think shame us very destructive and does nothing to help addicted people.

Yes, you are right. I feel a little uncomfortable with tribute bands. Personally,I have always felt that a tribute band should be more like a 19th century impressionist painting rather than a photograph. But fair play, horses for courses, plenty of people, including the band members, get a lot of pleasure hearing their favourite music being played live, sometimes this is the only way as many of the original bands no longer exist. And, luckily we all have other projects to be creative in.

Here's a thought - are the great classical orchestra's of the world nothing more than tribute bands, because all they play are covers of Back, Beethoven and all the other classical composers?

re: cover bands suck..CREAM-HENDRIX-ROLLING STONES all cover other folks music. Every classical music concert you've never been to, is covering someone's music. Ever been to an all mosart show? Well if SOMEONE can actually make music & admires a certain artist & plays numbers by lets say FREE right on! You don't like it stick to cartoons OR DON'T GO. I saw JHE 2 shows in LA. SAW RANDY HANSEN play w/MITCH MITCHELL (I was his agent) & then BUDDY MILES & it was F'N 100% BRILLIANT!
