Before watching this I knew nothing of David Lammy, he was just another politician in my eyes. I'm now of the opinion that this interview could have been twice as long and still wouldn't have been long enough. We may not share a lot of the same political beliefs but as an individual he brings an honesty and a belief that many others could learn from.

A lot of politicians come over well in this kind of setting. You realise that they are passionate, knowledgeable and intelligent, at least on the left and centre, as was Nick Clegg. James brings it out. Right wing Tories include a lot of liars and charlatans on the make, but most politicians are good people and should not all be painted with the brush deserved by Johnson, Patel, Mogg, Raab and others

It strikes me that James is pretty smart, always polite, capable of thinking on his feet. mogg or johnson (or even gove, who normally can't resist a mic) couldnt be dragged into a studio with him by a team of horses, because they know what would happen to them, so all that are left are the swivel eyed loons. Just listen to his LBC show to see what happens with those types. it's always funny, but at some point starts to look a bit cruel - a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
