Unintentionally hilarious and surreal. It’s as if David Lynch listened to a Boards of Canada track or Suicide and made it his own.

Autotune is simply a pitch-correction tool. Vocoders use a synthesizer to modulate the voice (or the other way around) for effect. Autotune is for people who can't sing, while vocoders are used for artistic effect.
@ShadeCandle6 жыл бұрын
True, except that I'd argue that autotune can be and often is used for artistic effect. When its use is hidden and meant simply to improve a shitty singer, I agree that's kind of shameful, but it can sound really cool when cranked way up. David Lynch has used autotune to good effect in other songs, like Ghost of Love, and Crazy Clown Time, if I remember correctly.

"red bark with pitch oozing out into the air, which dries It on the surface causing it to become crusty which allows for the Protection of all that lies within the crust, for it will now remain liquid And hold itself remaining in a state close to that of the pure essence Which will remind us of home, which will remind us of the red cookie-jar, And the smiles dancing around in the golden afternoons, while the pipe Puffs out small clouds of smoke from the mouth of the father with an axe to Cut wood growing on the tall mountains" (is he talking about DMT extraction??? dried red bark? This is a disquisition upon the nexus point between metaphysical speculation and euclidean reality extended upon a framework of certain specific mythic dimensions effected by the individual quotidian bends of an overloaded consciousness, limned by theories of Swedenborg and Alfred Jarry and illustrated to excruciating exactitude in Dicey's Rhombus Talk, found on KZbin elsewhere.
@EpsilonDelta12 Жыл бұрын
Are the lyrics adapted from something? Doesn't read like Lynch's typical speech patterns (I know, this being a song, it's entirely possible he's "putting on" a different style, it's just one I haven't seen him employ anywhere else).
