David is a treasure.. honestly one of the most genuine souls I have ever had the privilege to meet and spend time with. The best part of David, in my opinion, is how insanely humble he is. A truly beautiful person inside and out. Thank you for reacting to his music.. The world needs more of him.. and you!
@Pilot5454 жыл бұрын
I’m so happy to hear this. I have not met him but I have met many who I’ve looked up to (others in the gospel industry as well as professionally) and I’ve been let down. Humbleness truly is a virtue!

But...I’m not surprised. David always struck me as very humble...and insanely funny, too! Lol

I would rather watch reactions from Patrol than any others. He feels the messages as much as the voice. That's what I really love about Patrol. David singing this song starts the tears flowing from me. I lost my brother around the same time David lost his sister and I feel his pain. Thank you Patrol.

I love how you react to David, it's,the same way I react Everytime I hear him too. I've been in that Barn dozens of times, hearing him sing this song, and it's chill worthy Everytime. I think you would love "Just As I Am", the things he does with his voice in that song is mind blowing.

This is my favorite of his. And to think he wrote this for his sister after she was diagnosed with cancer.

I was at that filming. That was actually the second take of that song. There was a technical error in the first take, so they re-did the whole thing. So he sang it twice, back-to-back, with no rest.

Heaven's Shore is from his Freedom project. He wrote almost all the songs on it. Every song is phenomenal and David delivers each one with perfection. One of his very best projects. He is the most amazing singer I have ever heard. That voice always blows me away and leaves me speechless.

I was reading the comments & I didn’t see anything about his sister Sherrie, but he wrote this shortly after she passed away from cancer💔. I didn’t know if you knew that. She used to be one of his backup singers. The last song she sang with him was “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. If you haven’t heard that please give it a listen.

It's good that you admire David's heavenly voice. He lives what he sings.
The verse is set to "Oh, Shenandoah" a haunting and beautiful folk song; the chorus sounds like an original piece. Either way, lovely words to a beautiful song.

That was so beautiful. With this covid virus going on, we haven't been to our church in about 7 months. This song helps fill a void.

I so enjoy your reaction to David. I also enjoy your accent, I celebrated the 2 big D's in 1990 ( divorce and MSN (degree) by taking a trip to Australia. It is beautiful there. I was fortunate to be able to see him in person 3times. His tone is so pure and he is just as nice in person as I was able to speak to him when I purchased an album at the concert.
@leeannkaplan574 жыл бұрын
To make this even more meaningful, he wrote the lyrics for his sister Sherri who died 3 years previous to this concert. He said it has been his greatest loss so far. She was his sister, his wife’s best friend, his kid’s 2nd mother and she toured with him for years as his back up vocalist. He’s all about family. His other sister Kari tours with him as his horn player and vocalist. His cousin in law is his musical director, keyboardist and vocalist. His long time vocalist Charlotte (red head) is married to his drummer. Both his daughters are background vocalist in this concert (and every concert). You can see him sing with Sherri here, just months before she died of breast cancer. You’ll Never Walk Alone kzbin.info/www/bejne/roTQhphqh71qrqc There are so many great songs from this concert at his barn in Tennessee but these two are haunting and gorgeous and will definitely hit you in the feels, both written by David. All I Need is You, written when he was really struggling with the loss of Sherri (so raw and broken). Thank you, Lee Ann, for filling in everyone on the context of this song. I remember well just how unbelievably devasted David was (for months and months) by Sherri's crossing over. Thank you also for the links to these other songs as well; understanding their background makes them even more touching and heartfelt. And, having been there several times in the past, it's wonderful to be able to share the more intimate, and especially personal, atmosphere from "The Barn", mere feet away from his home's back door on his property, south of Nashville, Tennessee.

Thank you both for this info. I've loved listening to David fir years, but from afar. The GVB albums, a Christmas video, etc... I didnt know about his dear sister, "The Barn", how much his kids had grown!!! But YT, and his "phaithful phans" are catching me up. All because this gentleman reviewed some of his songs on YT- while flying the flag of Scotland in the background, a year ago. The algorithm brought all this to me. Thank you @PATROL GAMING REACTS! I've returned to my faith and the incomparable Gaither Music group.❤✌🙏

David Phelps - There is a River. The version when he performed in Birmingham Alabama. In my opinion, and as a singer myself, this is one of the most underrated and beautiful performances David has ever had. I don't want to spoil anything so i won't elaborate any further on what makes this performance so special. My only question is how much money would I have to send to get you to react to this? Lol.

Having played trumpet throughout college, I've always adored the shininess, the brilliance, of brass. And David's tone, in the upper registers, has that same quality for me. See if you agree when he gets to the top note of his slide, in one of my most favorite performances at the taping of his first solo DVD years ago. People were just blown away. I know--I was there! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZSulox5mt-tpZI

Cindy is soooo right!! As absolutely, utterly amazing it is to hear David from a recording, it is an EXPERIENCE when you attend one of his live concerts. SERIOUSLY--hard to explain, but he somehow manages to break through the Time/Space Continuum straight into your very soul......just ask anyone who has experienced him live.
