I'm loving this week of David! To cover all of his awesome videos, it would take more then a month! Lol. For Sandi Patty, one I really enjoy is Love In Any Language which she does in a Gaither Homecoming concert, and, yes, David is in it. Thank you for this week and your heartfelt reactions!

Love Sandy Patty! A few decades ago, when I used to sing solos for church and other gatherings, I often used her accompaniment tracks. Some of her songs I did were We Shall Behold Him, Love in Any Language, Via Dolorosa, and Bethlehem Morning. All are beautiful songs for you to check out!

Hello friend, you must not be familiar with who Sandi is, she IS the standard for all time. When David was in elementary school, Sandi was the undisputed queen of gospel music, THE Voice for sure. She was singing with the Gaithers in the early 1980's and had albums before that, too. Now this particular duet did not display ANY of Sandi's vocal ability, so this example is not too impressive at all. David is AMAZING! Brilliantly AMAZING! No doubt! But he walks (very worthily I might say, and I am sure with great awe and humility on his part) in the COLOSSAL footprints of Sandi Patti. Leaving colossal footprints of his own. But she set the standard first, and none have broken hers. Much of God's great love to you!

You would enjoy hearing Sandi sing especially in her prime, just the way David blows you away, so did/does Sandi!! I had the blessing to grow up in churches that was full of all these classic gospel singers! When I was 7, Bill Gaither and the vocal band came to my church, that was in 1977! I'm so glad you are becoming familiar with this amazing music!!!

Lyle, when David was a mere lad, Sandi Patti was the untouchable queen of gospel music. She and Larnelle Harris were the original singers of "I've Just Seen Jesus", also "More Than Wonderful", both are flawless classics, and no one does the songs better than they do, even 35 or 40 yrs later.

As for your question regarding if she ever dueted with David again in their primes, the answer is... kinda. Not in a duet. They did a song called Searchin' in the late 90s/early 2000s live at one of the Gaither shows. It's on KZbin. It's a lot of the Gaither Homecoming artists singing together. Definitely something you'd enjoy reacting to as well.

There is a pickup group consisting of the great Jimmy Fortune, Mike Rogers, Bradley Walker, and Ben Isaac. Great harmonies. Try Fortune,Roger's, Walker and Isaac, at Columbia 2020. There are several songs but try "Cry" or "I'm so lonely I could die ". After David this group put together because they lost a lot of dates due to Covid. Brad Walker is a muscular dystrophy sufferer who sings baritone and bass. He was the gospel singer of the year a couple of years ago and does a full time job at a nuclear plant near his home in Alabama.

At this point in Sandy's career she had started to lose her upper register. If you listen to her sing in the 80s and through most of the 90s she has incredible range and control. But started to lose some of that range once the 2000s hit which is perfectly natural, David doesn't often sing as high as he used though he can still get up there. The joke with Mark was an old one between him and Sandy look up Marks song Some other time some other place, it's hilarious.

On David's "Old Boards" from his old website before Facebook, I'd been pushing for years for David to do "Jesus Christ Superstar" on Broadway because his acting chops are so fabulous as well--in many ways, he was meant for musical theater. Now all I need is $10 million. Just sayin'..................... (Seriously, though--can you just IMAGINE it!!!! :D :D :D )

Yeah, I'm not sure what happened but around 2015 Sandi's voice kinda... stopped working. I think it's probably health related. Even her speaking voice is a bit hoarse.

@@donnapearson466 Nope. Age is not something that will break the voice. If your voice is perfectly healthy and properly taken care of, you can keep it sounding exactly the same till the end. I’ve seen a number of high-singing singers sounding the same as they did in their 20s... in their 80s and 90s. Check out her 2017 version of My God is Real. You can hear there that there is something off with her voice. Health-related.

@@KajiVocals Wow. I see what you are saying. I just watched the 2012 and 2017 versions. She has lost her powerful voice. I am happy that she survived her bout with COVID and I wish her well.

@@donnapearson466 A friend of mine saw her last year. He said her voice was very strong that night. Her belt and lower range specifically. Very strong, even when backing from the microphone. Head voice while also strong had some weird issues. He also mentioned that she was constantly clearing her throat which leads me to believe that she might have developed some damage or maybe reflux (I think David has reflux too). I think her voice can totally be brought back to its previous self but it will take some serious work, mostly health related work because her technique is fine. I think that goes for David too. I noticed he has been kinda airy the last few years and struggling when he adds vibrato (his notes without vibrato are effortless). I really think it might be acid reflux or something like that. Or maybe just caught some bad vocal habits. But it is fixable.
