He’s absolutely correct. I’m not in the habit of listening to Protestants/Evangelicals; but he’s sounding the alarm, on an incredibly real problem, within what passes, in America, for Christianity. In all honesty; I’m surprised this guy hasn’t crossed the Tiber. He’d be more than welcome. Eventually, I’m hoping he ends up in the West, or East, and come home. ❤️

@kennethm.3808 ай бұрын
@@toddcagle4245 Stealing millions. Hmm. Interesting. Hopefully you have the facts necessary to back up this spurious allegation (which I'm sure you are not in possession of). Besides, what's he going to do with it? Live a lavish lifestyle? He knows he can't take it with him. "Kicking people out"? Well, they have revised the rules concerning this so this has been remedied. It's a non issue, but I really don't have a problem with the MBC removing those from their roles that simply no longer attend. What's the problem? Todd, seems to me we should be more focused on Jesus and Less focused on David. I've heard David teach and preach. I'm impressed with him as a true follower of Jesus Christ. And in the final analysis isn't that what really matters.

Platt is an evil disgusting human being and what he and the SBC did to Mclean Bible Church is corruption to the core. This man is never to praised. He's not doing God's work!
@randyg22152 Жыл бұрын
The title of this video (and David Platts’s book) is ironic, because all that Mr. Platt teaches is American youth culture disguised as Christianity. David Platt is the very definition of a leader who is trying to teach the “American Gospel” (or at least the current iteration of it) in order to be popular with the “seeking” crowd (i.e.: the lost people who seek with itching ears leaders who will tell them what they want to hear). More specifically, Mr. Platt teaches Critical Race Theory (which is the false gospel of envy) and godless “Social Justice” (which is just Communism and sinful envy disguised as political activism for lazy, insecure people) with a few token Bible verses thrown in to try to Christianize the Cultural Marxism taught in American Universities in an apparent attempt to appear “cool” and relevant to the decadent and immature Washington DC crowd. It is Mr. Platt is simply projecting when he accuses others of “prostituting Jesus” when David is the very one using a false version of Christianity to promote himself. He is trying to make himself popular to the world in an apparent attempt to grow his following (and grow his pocketbook by selling books) without challenging people to grow themselves and change in order to be more like Christ and less like the world. Mclean Bible Church (MBC) is a paradigm of what is wrong with American Protestant evangelical Christianity: arrogant, greedy, self-serving celebrity leaders who strive to build bigger buildings instead of building disciples of Jesus Christ. That is one of the many reasons that I quit attending MBC or listening to any of David Platf’s sermons. He is a blind guide leading the blind into a ditch, and I cannot believe that this podcast is lionizing this false teacher instead of reprimanding him for his heresies. Ask David Platt why MBC has lost so many of its long term members as of late. MBC is no longer the conservative, orthodox Christian church that it use to be under Lon Solomon years ago.

Unfortunately, he's talking about "stepping into" moral compromise and wokeness. It's heartbreaking to see such a great leader advise that it's not a sin to vote for a murderous party with a radical lgbtq agenda going after children. He calls it a third bucket issue when it should be a 1 or 2.

Great topic and a topic that pushes believers and non believers away from the gospel but I felt the podcast was too high level, gave too little detail, and did more of pushing the book. I understand it cost to produce books but if this will change the life of the church maybe a lower price point would be good.

It is a shame that this is corrupted by a false doctrine as an answer to a false doctrine. Oh, well. The debt of sin has been paid by Christ. We accept the gift or not based on our heart and whether we love the things of God and his goodness is desirable to us or not.

@@paulvoit5610 Hey, I've looked into it -- and it does indeed look murky. I have long been part of a Baptist "Association" which is NOT a denomination. However, it appears that the SBC is officially a Denomination. And I see that the Bylaws at McLean expressly forbid denominational affiliation. So, his reply to a direct question on this was troublesome! He admits partnership but waffles on "affiliation" while denying that the church is in submission to the denomination. It's a technicality at best. I can see why people are frustrated. Leaders need to be forthright. And, sometimes frustratingly -- if one wants to subvert the church constitution you find yourself saddled with, you really need to pursue a constitutional revision process before expressly overriding it. Process matters. Sounds like Platt and co blew it here.

Pray for David. He has not acknowledged his own role in the American gospel and church politics and denominational wars and promoting mega churches as God's blessing. His love for God's Word and teaching is clear. He played an important role in my being in the African mission field. Yet, he has catered to culture, especially in the church he pastors and has tolerated false teaching by his own staff. Pray for reconciliation between David and Sal Cordova. Sal's attitude toward David has not been good but abusive power was not the solution and not the legacy that God's servants should leave. His popularity put him on a pedestal. He has failed to completely and fully denounce this position. When the God given authority of church leaders was needed when churches were told to close, David was among those who complied without a whimper. Praying for God to restore David and all of us.

Love the banter about covid….too funny. Please explain more what you mean with many vague/broad terms. Without that it just seems you are dancing around topics and trying to appease. Agree with the comment that we will be in heaven with people that look different than us…praise God! But “think” different than us? Please expand, because it seems life as a christian is about learning to think more like God & put his will above ours; therefore, it seems like we should be of similar mind.
