I have to say that the guy who plays David is the best actor on Corrie. In my opinion anyway. I love how he can go from a gentle, kind dad to so sad and then to the anger. An episode never goes by without me thinking how awesome he is at his job.

Richard Hillman was David's stepdad. He turned out to be a serial killer and when David was 12, Richard tied up the whole family and drove them into the canal. Whenever they touch upon David's problems these days, it's always clear that he's been badly affected by that, and he uses it as an excuse and a way to hurt Gail a lot.

I know david does bad things but I always feel sorry for him. he only went off the rails after his dad disappeared from his life, then was traumatised by his mums nutty boyfriends. but he does love his mother, you just need to see the way he was when she was in gaol to know that.

apparently tina dumps david in 2009. They should start focussing on his mental state a bit more... like when he smashed the street, that was a real insight to how much he was struggling. and driving the car into the canal showed he's still traumatised by hillman, but they've never actually talked about it. they should!!
