Damn, didn't know V. Mcoy produced this probably not long before his death. It slipped right by me, nevertheless. This is a hauntingly beautiful song and displays D. R. at his very best. His strength, his pain, and the sincerity of his vocals are so deep, and although it was probably among the very reasons that led him to his self-destruction. This man's musical gift was right up there with Motown contemporaries Marvin, Smokey, and Levi, as one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Thanks for posting!

...From Detroit to Philadelphia connection... Most of songs from the repertoires of Tamla Motown and Motown have that best typical classic orchestrations signatures that make Motown being Motown, except those songs like being made by Van Mc Coy and few others musical arrangers also from Detroit Motown but who have their own personal mood with vocals and orchestrations in classic R&B, but also who have a some parenting with 'Philadelphia sounds' impeccable in musics arrangements... And this also the reason with that great appeal in this song here with great David Ruffin... And its another best from Purrfection remix selections... Thanks for that sharing.
