How in the world could someone smoke crack off & on for yrs and still have *_vocals_* like this? Truly *Lord* gave him this eternal gift for the joy in David's heart while singing in his beloved church ❣️A *divine gift* not even Satan's snares could bring down. *_Jesus loves when we have joy in our hearts for him! It shows sincere appreciation for his sacrifice._*

All those racist folks back in the day missed out on great music just because they were so ignorant and refused to give up their pride. They missed out on watching greats like David perform live. What I’ll do to go back in those times just to experience soul music live.

@@davidsherbourne3161 Thank you. That was undoubtedly one of the most ignorant comments I ever read in some time. White people were a major consumer of Soul records. Why do you think Berry Gordy strongly encouraged a pop sound laced with Soul into the Motown sound? Motown needed a white audience in order to gain mass appeal. This is common knowledge. And guess what? Motown SUCCEEDED because of it. Thanks to Motown grooming these legendary acts, when they matured and decided to evolve in their sound, they took black and white audiences with them for that creative ride which opened the door to more grittier soul and funk acts to become mainstream. The Philadelphia sound( Harold Melvin and the Blue notes, The Spinners, The Ojays, Rolls Royce etc...) is an excellent example of this. Then of course disco finished it off and you had massive white consumption of this incredible music because both whites and blacks knew good songs when they heard them. I really get annoyed when the race element just gets carelessly tossed out there without serious thought.

I am a retired Trucker that was living in Grand Rapids. I use to have a daily choice where to run for the day. When a Detroit load came up, I tried to always grab it. After I unloaded in the morning. I couldn't wait to tune in on the radio and listen to Mason in the Morning. He played all the great R & B tunes. This one use to be my favorite. I sure miss those days.

Even though David had a Drug Addiction and Alcohol Problem he always got on stage and expressed the feelings of every song that he sang, whether it was a love song, Depressed song or about his life, he made us love the song that he sung. His songs will always be a hit because he had that special gifted voice. Oh and his moves were on the money.

I truly, truly enjoyed listening to David Ruffin's blistering songs, and I truly wished that he never allowed drugs to become a part of his psychic; the man could really blow. Despite his addiction and personal inner battles with his self, his vocals expressed his passion for singing in every song he sang during his musical career with the mighty Temptations! R.I.P., David. Your music and your voice will always be remembered. Thank you for the post.

Yes it It was The Long and Winding Road, I was very emotional. I’m glad it’s over now. Just worried about his wife and how she will cope. She’s not going to stop working, I’m glad to say.
