I had the great privilege to see David Russell play this piece live in '89 and it was also the first time I had ever listened to 'Sueno'. Watching this video brought back that amazing experience.

Absolutely sublime! A wonderful performance. Beautiful beyond belief. He did wonderful justice to that piece. The tremolo was positively dreamlike. He was able to invoke what I am sure Barrios wanted the listener to gain from this piece.

Yo participé en una clase magistral de David hace muchos años en Sevilla y una de las obras que me corrigió fue Recuerdos de la Alhambra. David Russel tiene un trémolo extraterrestre y fue un milagro recibir sus consejos, inspiradores siempre. Gracias eternas, Maestro !

Paraguay has its surprises, Mangore is incredible!
@Guitarramistica7 жыл бұрын
Mangore would go out into nature and compose these amazing pieces,, This is called "Dream in the Rainforest" its an example of how deep he loved nature> he actually lived with the indigenous Guaranies people of Paraguay for over 10 years.. He amazed even the most talented Spanish great Guitarists like Llobet and even Segovia I think quite jealous of his Skill at composing and playing as well... He was a genius who unfortunately did not get to record with good sounds qualities like other got like Segovia. It's a big lost to the World...RIP Barrios Mangore. Soy tu Discipulo Y un dia te hare un Homenaje, como se Debe..por tu Inspiracion de duende y soñador, poeta y mistico..Un hombre de gran vision y una cualidad de Ser, Humilde y Grande al mismo tiempo...

Segovia came to South America at an Guitar Hero condition but clearly did dirty his pants after meeting guys like Villa-Lobos and Barrios, making everything for this one not to reach Europe... Segovia was a Frustrated Guitar composer and Flamenco guitarrist (there are lots of tales in Granada of his early youth where the gipsies bullied him for his playing flavour). His truly main oeuvre for guitar was convincing non guitarrist composer to write pieces for guitar. His overall "Franco-like" attitude to the instrument is yet to be cleared up wether it was helpfull for guitar world or not...

"With guaranies" lol what are you talking about? In Paraguay we"re paraguayans, we're proud of our guarani ancestry but we"re not natives.

David, your playing here has brought me to absolute tears. It took me to a place where everything was absolutely perfect and there wasn't anything that couldn't be done. I was transported beyond a dream, deep into the fabric of my own imagination. I lived in complete happiness, utter bliss. I was allowed to visit a place inside of me that I never even knew existed. A place with all I could ever want but so much more than that. Thank you so much, David. Playing like this inspires me not only to play the guitar as well as I can, but to live.

Smilthy thank you very much!! That really means a lot to me. :) it’s this song!! I just tried to type out EXACTLY what I was feeling, to the letter. I tried to place every character right where I wanted it to somehow give some articulation as to how I was feeling in that moment!!! One thing that is nice now is that I can look back on this comment occasionally and sometimes I get a taste of what I was experiencing that day. :) hopefully I can do the same thing for other people!!

Agree. To my ears it's the most beautiful piece for solo guitar in the entire repertoire. David Russel plays it beautifully.

Underrated? I have always felt this is either the most difficult or a close second, and the difficulty is matched by the beauty of the piece. The only piece close is Rodrigo's Invocacion y danza.

@@johnniebrownTheAveregeNerd lol malmsteen should stay with his electric
@thenoob331013 жыл бұрын
@@Kornhulio18 Agreed tremolo on an electric guitar for music like Yngwie is much easier because of the pick and the fact that they don't need to use musicality. Tremolo on classical guitar requires careful and arduous practice to keep the string of notes continuous and even while accounting for dynamics inherent to classical guitar.
