Many denominations purposely don't read or want to understand the Book of Hebrews because if they did, they would have to dismantle their denomination. I love the Book of Hebrews and have often said that it is a commentary on the Psalms. You guys did another excellent job of taking this thing apart and putting it back together. Your doctrine is consistent and coherent and that's the highest complement I can pay anybody.

@@bairfreedom - If the Book of Hebrews does not make you repent of being a member of any mainstream denomination then you're not converted. It defines a church that denominations do not manifest. Which denomination goes by the Book of Hebrews? I'm 67 years old and have been a Christian most of my life. I have studied the doctrines and theologies of many denominations and none of them comply with the Book of Hebrews 100%. They all depart from this book in some way.

If man can not prove how the Lord was born to a virgin, how did He rise from the dead, how did He change languages , does that make man superior? Abraham believed God could raise Isaac. His faith was credited as righteousness. Jewishness is faith in God. Even after God parted the seas, Moses knew Israel would rebel. Our Lord knew His Father's business even at the age of 12. He knows He was before Abraham. He knows the eternal Kingdom is His. He is living and will bring His Kingdom on the last day.

When Lord sent the Holy Spirit, it was on Pentecost. People spoke all different languages, and they too spread His word everywhere He took them! It is such a blessing to know how to worship the Creator and one true God who saves from evil. Moses knew already Israel would be unfaithful. Her kings introduced pagan practices until the Savior born of the Holy Spirit delivered first the Jews and then Gentiles from wicked ways!

I ran into a Oneness Pentacostals, and I brought up this verse. He said "they are different types of lords" and I said, "ok cool, so we established that they are different.....now, who is the Lord of the king?" And then the subject got changed and he wouldn't go back to it.

Greetings in christ... Just this march i came across this verse in Romans and it really disturbed me that i started to think Paul twisted things. I tried to reach a lot of sources to check over it and none satisfied me. I prayed God to teach me on it and later i forgot this as I went with my daily chores. But after months I am now relieved from this dilemma as the Lord taught me this through you. Even though I forgot what I prayed over God didn't forget my prayer and answered it at the right time. This is a great teaching. Ps 110 is a Messianic Psalm . Frequently quoted in the NT referring to Jesus the Messiah . David was led prophetically to write by the Holy Spirit .This psalm is a continuation of PS 2 for it completes the prophetic account of Jesus Christ final victory.

Amen. Thank you for this study. Its so fascinating that as you were giving responses to Psalm 110 objects, the parallels in Psalm 2 were also playing over and over in my mind. I also appreciated how you showed in the New Testament Jesus raising the question about Psalm 110. None of his opponents is raise the kinds of objections that we see some doing today hundreds of years later. I often think we should be very aware of the influence of Masoratic and Hellenistic traditions on the way we read the Bible, which can sometimes cause us to not see clear statements and concepts that are taught. Some of these ways can often be foreign to the context of a 1st century mind wrestling with the text and can often cause confusion. Thank you to you both and your team for putting this together and reminding us of what are proper ways to view the text and re-engage in the excitement and coherent message of the whole Bible. Jesus is LORD and is the only way! God bless and take care.

David was a Psalmist as well as a prophet. I believe God gave him a revelation of things to come just as God gave, Enoch, Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaiah and others! It’s not uncommon for God to reveal an End from the Beginning; He’s the LORD God Jehovah! Moses said, a Prophet like onto him, God would give us/them. I don’t believe David is praising himself, he’s used to praising God or praying to God. That’s what the Psalms are all about. Praise God!

Interesting that Psalm 110 finished the conversation between Messiah Jesus with the Pharisees, Jesus removed their authority and gave it over to St Peter and the Apostles from Galilee. In verse 7, why is the term "way side" used instead of "the way"? Jesus used The Way as a description of Himself. And the brook that He drinks in the Way... Is it related to the water of life that Jesus said he would give ... when speaking to the Samaritan woman at the well? That's obviously a fabricated story. The pharisees knew the Hebrew scripture by heart. They would have corrected Jesus immediately on the spot. The 2nd lord is King David himself because he wrote it in 3rd person. It's a song supposed to be sung by the Levites like Asaph and his brothers. From the Levites perspective "my master" is King David and no one else. Did God make Jesus' enemies his footstool? Heck no, but God did it with David's enemies as you can read in 2nd Samuel 22: "I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies." "He rescued me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me." "I pursued my enemies and destroyed them, and did not turn back until they were consumed." "I consumed them; I thrust them through, so that they did not rise; they fell under my feet."

The author of the Gospel of Matthew clearly didn't read the Hebrew text but a Greek translation, hence the confusion and misunderstanding of the text. The second lord (adoni) always refers to a human being, there is no divinity there except for the first lord which is YHWH. 1. King David wrote a song in 3rd person 2. The song contains a promise from God 3. The promise gets fulfilled for the very same guy who wrote the text --> it has nothing to do with a guy 1000 years later

So you find a word, think it's the same when it isn't but ignore the fact that it only occurs 2 times with 2 verses apart in the whole Tanakh and in both cases refer to God (*The* Lord). The word in the Psalms is "adoni" and always refers to a human being, like Moses was called adoni (Ex 32:22) or Abraham. Adonai on the other hand is reserved exclusively for God. The word you dug out is not in the Psalms. Then you come up with even another word... seriously? Ancient Hebrew is always read in context. You can't just pick up a word embedded in a context and think it means the same just because a few letters are identical. I'm off to holidays now. Have a nice day.

Man I wish I had watched this earlier! This very point came up in a psalms study a few months ago and I could have used this knowledge then
