For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9 is one of the first scriptures that come to mind when we look at the birth of our Messiah, but as clear at it might seem there are many objections to the messianic interpretation of this verse. In this episode of Case for Messiah we answer these objections and reveal the Messiah born to us, who is Wonderful, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace!

Brilliant guys. I discussed Isaiah 9 with my religious Jewish business partner and friend, fouty years ago who, after consulting with his rabbi, came back with the objections you raised today. Mercifully my faith in Yeshua withstood the challenge these last fourty years, so i did not waiver. Now you have clearly answered all the objections and Abba has given me yet an extra boost in faith for the days ahead. But the most amazing thing is that i still have contact with my Jewish friend and i will send the link to the video. Thank you so much guys; your faithfulness will be rewarded for eternity.

I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the Keys of death and Hades...Now let us go to Isaiah 44:6=I AM the first and I AM the last; apart from me there is no God...Now let's go back to Revelation 1= where it says, I was dead and behold I am alive forever and ever...Question? When did God the Father ever die? Answer. He didn't, Yeshua/Jesus did...This is literally Jesus speaking and revealing himself to John...

@@alvinlee10ya it's how we learn, and it opens up the Bible in amazing ways. It's how we understand the New Testament when Jesus/Messiah came and why the people responded the way they did, and what Jesus was talking about to His Jewish audience and what they would have understood from their law and prophets.

And yeshua messiah came from the tribe of Judah, and there were numerous passages that says that the coming messiah is going to be a king

@@rubandavid3255 : Genesis 49:10 tells us through WHICH family line Jesus would be born. Jesus had to be born through some family. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, David were the line. Jesus' kingship is for the whole world. The Jews no longer have anything to do with prophecy. Please read Jeremiah 12:7 and Jesus confirmation at Matthew 23:37,38. Psalms 72:7 In his days the righteous will flourish, And peace will abound until the moon is no more. 8 He will have subjects from sea to sea And from the River to the ends of the earth. Remember that Jesus had no genetic connections to any human. He was a transfer of an angel into a human form. (Philippians 2:7) No, but he emptied himself (of his spirit form) and took a slave’s form and BECAME HUMAN. That is why God identifies Jesus as his SON (Matthew 3:17). Just trying to help.

There were many "potential" candidates for the Messiah in biblical history, eg. David, Hezekiah, Josiah, etc, but none could measure up, all had their faults, but their was only ONE = MESSIAH YESHUA, to whom All of these names in Isaiah 9 point to. There is also another scripture that alludes to this in Isaiah 63 (particularly verse 5) That God's "own arm brought Salvation".
@BinaryJoe

Yeshua is still a latinised version of that name based on the latinised "Jehovah" which is just one vocalisation of the Tetragrammaton; YHWH: yud hey vav hey. Since it's derived from the word Yahweh, it's pronunciation would be closer to a long "a" than an "e" sound, but because of local dialects and different languages coupled with the practice of excluding vowels in certain Hebrew texts gives it wiggle room. You'll notice in the above examples of latinised words that a "J" takes the place of the "Y", that's because the letter J didn't exist in Jesus' day and only arrived with our modern "arabic" Alphabet. So, if we full latinsed the name "Yahshua", we get the name "Joshua". Take notice when you hear others named this in the Bible because it's a signifier that they come from a family that knew and was expectant of the Messiah and hoping he would come through them There's every linguistic evidence to believe that he wasn't called "Jesus", in his day, which comes from the latinised "Iesus", but people would have actually called him Yah-shua: God's Salvation: or "Joshua", in English. 🙂

The One True Creator G_d gave specific details to the Hebrew prophets about when the Real Messiach comes. No One! Especially the so-called "Jesus" has fulfilled any of them yet! 1. When the Real Messiach comes, he will be a normal man from the line of David through Solomon and will sit on the throne of David and rule from there forever. *Obviously, that hasn't happened yet! 2. When the Real Messiach, it will be at the End of Days. * Obviously, back then was not the End of Days! 3. When the Real Messiach comes, the Temple will be rebuilt never to be destroyed again, and The Messiach will start the animal sacrifices in the Temple again. * The opposite happened back then! The very fact that the Temple isn't standing proves that the so-called "Jesus" is Not The Messiach! 4. When the Real Messiach comes, Everyone around the world (including atheist) will know that he is The Messiach! * We KNOW that the so-called "Jesus" is Not The Messiach! 5. When the Real Messiach comes, death will cease to exist. * Obviously, that hasn't happened yet either because so many people are still getting sick and dying. 6. When the Real Messiach comes, there will be World Peace and weapons of war will be rebuilt into farming implements. * We're still waiting for that one!!! 7. When the Real Messiach comes, Everyone around the world, from every language will grab the Jews and say "Now we know that we have inherited only lies and G_d has been with you Jews all along. Please 🙏 take us with you!" * We're still waiting for that one, too!!! No where in the Torah/Tanach does it ever say that the Messiach will keep failing and have to come back again and again. According to Christianity, the so-called "Jesus" already came back a second time, but he still never fulfilled any of those Prophecies about the Real Messiach. So now Christians are waiting for a third coming. Christianity strikes out again!

@@BinaryJoe - The Aramaic pronunciation of Jesus' name is Isho [ܝ̣ܫܘ̇ܥ / ִישוֹע] (Chaldean & Assyrian Pron.) while it is Yeshua [ܝܹܫܘ̣ܥ / יֵשוּעַ] for the (Syriac Pron.). It is the same spelling for both. I typed the block Aramaic Script or Biblical Hebrew Script beside the Syriac Script so you can see for yourself. There is no reason to believe that the pronunciation tradition has been changed. Yeshua looks like it was made into a masculine spelling/pronunciation of YE-SHU-AH (f.) "Salvation." That's b/c there is also the Hebrew word YE-SHA (m.) "salvation." Yeshua is also the contraction of the name: Yehoshua "God is salvation [?]" (Josh. 1:1, 10, 12 CF: Neh. 8:17). Both those Hebrew names are often terribly transliterated as: "Joshua" in English Bibles. That transliteration mostly comes from the Latin Vulgate, which has: Iosue [i.e. Yosue / Josue]. The Greek word Yesus is the Greek transliteration for both the Hebrew names Yeshua & Yehoshua in the Greek Bible - though it consonantly represents more the first Hebrew name. There is no "sh" sound in Greek, so that sound gets transliterated merely as: "s." The "a" vowel at the end was left out b/c the "a" at the end often represents a feminine name/word. Masculine names/words often or mostly end in "s," so an "s" was added at the end. There are two traditions of pronunciation for the Greek name Ιησους. The combination of the Ιη can give the "Ι" ["i" as in the word: "marine"] or "Ee" sound. The pronunciation of Isus is also the Coptic pronunciation & is similar to the Chaldean & Assyrian Aramaic Pronunciation of "Isho." The other Koine Greek tradition is that the “Ι” can have a "Y" sound at the beginning of a word when a vowel follows it. The pronunciation of Yesus (Ιησους) is similar to the Aramaic (Syriac) pronunciation of: "Yeshua." There is no reason to believe that the vowels in the name Isho or Yeshua were changed from "Yahshua." The Hebrew, Aramaic & Greek transliterations all bear witness to the correct two Shemitic pronunciations of "Jesus." The Divine Name יהוה gets different vowels depending on if two or three of its letters gets used in a name or statement, or if they are at the front or end of a name. - יוֹאֵל Yoel (Joel) "Yo is God" is where יוֹ gets the "o" vowel. The statement: HALELU YAH (הַלְלוּיָהּ) "Praise ye Yah" is where יָהּ gets the "a" vowel. אֵלִיָּהוּ Eliyahu (Elijah) "Yahu is my God" is where יָהוּ gets the vowels "a" and "u." יְהוֹשָפָט Yehoshaphat "Yeho has judged" is where יְהוֹ gets the vowels "e" and "o." Don't assume that the Divine Name was pronounced יָהוּהַ YaHUaH b/c Yahu is the pronunciation of 3 of those letters @ the end of names. By that logic, why wouldn't you assume that the Divine Name was pronounced יְהוָֹה YeHoWaH (Jehovah) b/c Yeho is the pronunciation of those 3 letters @ the beginning of names? The Divine Name was either pronounced יָהוֵה Yahweh or יִהוֶה Yihweh. That name is believed to be from the imperfect verb יִהיֶה yihyeh (He shall be(come)." The pronunciation of YiHWeH gets the vowels from that verb. Compare חַוָּה Ḥavvah (Eve) with the vowels of the adjective/noun חַיָּה “living (living thing)” [f.]. If the same vowels of that verb weren't used for God's Name, then His Name may have been pronounced "YaHWeH." The pronunciation of " YeHoVaH" isn't correct. The vowels for that pronunciation were taken from the noun aDoNAI "the Lord," but the first "a" vowel was shortened to an " e" vowel.

Therefore, He could see our future as His past. Basically, G-D can use any tense He pleases, since he is omnipresent. However, I,do feel he would use time as a confusing agent to trouble us of lower minds on,purpose. I always enjoy your discussions and deep dives. Going back to the original writings is very enlightening. Be well. Be blessed.

Why would one say that God is omnipresent? 2 Chronicles 6:21 And listen to your servant’s pleas for help and to the pleas of your people Israel when they pray toward this place, and may you hear FROM YOUR DWELLING PLACE, FROM THE HEAVENS; Jesus: '"Our Father who LIVES IN HEAVEN..." - Matthew 6:9. Isaiah 9:6 is definitely a prophecy. 'Will be called' is futuristic in tense.

@@tongakhan230 My understanding is this, God is everywhere at all times because he has the attribute of infinitude, having infinite power and presence, which means he has no limits. That is why he can be everywhere, with everyone, at all times. Having the attribute of infinitude is also the reason His one sacrifice, in the person of His Son, can atone for all the sins of the world at all times by all the people who believe in Yeshua, Jesus, and accept His free gift and it’s atoning power. Be well. Be blessed.

@@sgvern1;I was helping with what the Bible teaches. God knows what is happening everywhere in the Universe. But God dwells in a particular location. Remember Jesus had to go back to heaven to meet God to offer the value of his sacrifice. Hebrews 9:24 For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with hands, which is a copy of the reality, but INTO HEAVEN ITSELF, so that HE NOW APPEARS BEFORE GOD on our behalf. Just think. If God was everywhere, Jesus could have done so while on earth.

One problem is before שמו should be the definite direct object marker את. Why do you suppose that is not there? Good stuff! Thank you brothers.

Don’t let these false teachers mislead my dear brother. Always remember what God says about people like these in the video. ““When these people, or a prophet or a priest, ask you, ‘What is the message from the Lord?’ say to them, ‘What message? I will forsake you, declares the Lord.’ If a prophet or a priest or anyone else claims, ‘This is a message from the Lord,’ I will punish them and their household. This is what each of you keeps saying to your friends and other Israelites: ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What has the Lord spoken?’ But you must not mention ‘a message from the Lord’ again, because each one’s word becomes their own message. So you distort the words of the living God, the Lord Almighty, our God. This is what you keep saying to a prophet: ‘What is the Lord’s answer to you?’ or ‘What has the Lord spoken?’ Although you claim, ‘This is a message from the Lord,’ this is what the Lord says: You used the words, ‘This is a message from the Lord,’ even though I told you that you must not claim, ‘This is a message from the Lord.’ Therefore, I will surely forget you and cast you out of my presence along with the city I gave to you and your ancestors. @@jamilbiotech91 I thought they explained things well. One thing you have to realize is first Christianity is a Jewish religion. All the early believers were Jewish. Gentiles came in afterwards. Second, we don't believe in another God, nor in 3 gods. We believe the Messiah was God, the same God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

@@larryg7109 Hezekiah is called "the mighty God" because this name is a sign that foretells God's defense of Jerusalem through the miraculous sudden mass death of Sennacherib's army. Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast a mound against it. By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come to this city, says the Lord. For I will defend this city to save it, for My own sake, and for My servant David's sake. (Isaiah 37:33-35) Hezekiah is called "the everlasting Father" because this name is a sign, which foretells that God will add years to his life. "Go, and say to Hezekiah: Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add to your days fifteen years" (Isaiah 38:5). Hezekiah is called "the ruler of peace" because this name is a sign, which foretells that God would be merciful to him. Punishment for lack of faith in the Almighty will be deferred and peace granted during the last years of his rule. "Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah: 'Good is the word of the Lord which you have spoken.' He said moreover: 'If but there shall be peace and security in my days'" (Isaiah 39:8). The fulfillment of the above-stated declarations is foretold in Isaiah 9:6, when, after the Assyrian defeat, Hezekiah's glory increased and peace reigned for the rest of his life (2 Chronicles 32:23). Archaeologists have found that there was a sudden expansion of Judean settlements in the years following the fall of the northern kingdom. This indicates that many refugees fled south, thus giving added significance to the statement "that the government may be increased." Hezekiah's kingdom is declared to be forever, for through his efforts to cleanse the Temple ritual of idolatry, even though apostasy followed under his son Menasseh, the Davidic dynasty was once more confirmed as the only true kingly rule that God would accept over his people "from henceforth and forever." The greatness of Hezekiah lies in his setting the stage for Israel's future. Hezekiah was a true reformer. He cleansed religious worship of foreign influence, purged the palace and the Temple of images and pagan altars, and reestablished pure monotheistic religion. In the long run Hezekiah's achievements would outlive him, leaving an everlasting, indelible impact on the history of his people. Thus, God, through Isaiah, bestows upon Hezekiah this name which honors the king by proclaiming the great things God will do for him, and, through him, for the people of Israel.

I love this one. He shall be called the Prince of Peace. Not the King of Peace, which tells me that this is definitely saying that Elohim consists of Father and Son. A Prince is the son of a king. 6For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. Is 9:6 How can you deny what Messiah Yeshua was telling you? The difference between His people, and those who hate Him is that the unbelievers would break God's laws to kill those who believe, acting just like Nazi's did to the Jews of Europe, whereas the followers of Yeshua always praying for the Peace of Jerusalem, and want the unbelieving Jews to be saved and not harmed.

Strange, I have always read this text in past tence but it never even occured to me to see it as literally in past tence as that would feel just straight up wrong really. It is almost hymn like in nature, and in that way it will be sung when the time comes. It kind of shows how important it is to let the Holy Spirit guide while reading the scriptures and so never engage only the left side of the brain which takes things literally and is on it's own perhaps even blind to true spiritual nature of scripture. But that is just my own opinion ofcourse, love learning about the scriptures from Hebrew speaking believers it truly adds to understanding of it and it is a treasure I'm thankful for.
