From 1987, this is such a smooth jazz instrumental, produced by Marcus Miller, who also played guitar, keyboards and bass on the album. You were right Harri. This is a soulful and melodic composition that tries to capture the essence of Chicago with its lively tempo and intricate arrangements. The sax, keyboards and guitar play crucial roles in creating this captivating sound, complimenting each other in perfect harmony. David's sax excels on every track he plays. Extraordinary. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Terry.👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Fortunate enough to see him twice in Southern California . His sound is classic and identifiable in the Lethal Weapon movies, and he played with David Bowie in several albums, especially loved Bowie Live.

David's TV show "Night Music" (1988-90) featured a young Marcus Miller on bass in the house band. Who's the drummer. What a deep pocket.

Steve Ferrone is the drummer on this track. Omar Hakim was the drummer on the David Sanborn show, 'Night Music' 😁

I’ve been listening to this song for 36 years and it’s always a joy. Your spot on that the bass adds so much to the song, and I see you tuned in to those long runs by two saxes and the bass. Excellent review as always.

Next you should definitely do his famous hit Maputo, written by the amazing Marcus Miller, they are best friends, believe just like Marcus, he played with Miles Davis, I might be wrong. Please do the video him performing Maputo, with Fourplay and Bob James. I see Dave every year at the NY Blue Note.

David Sanborn contracted polio when he was 3 years old and confined to an iron lung which left him having respiration problems but that did not stop him from taking up the sax later in his childhood years He is such an inspiration to young musicians RIP David

It's SUNDAY, in Cleveland, Ohio!!! All the same, to my knowledge; this was also MY first time hearing this song! (1977 was kind of a "BUSY YEAR" for me) ... I was only 18 years old, for most of 1977!!!

I became a David Sanborn fan when I heard "Chicago Song". That drum and keyboard opening! And that raw David Sanborn saxophone, combined with those 'heavenly' female background vocalists... Well, if you know about Marcus Miller, then you must've heard "Free" featuring Corinne Bailey Rae.

Harri here are other brilliant David Sanborn songs you will truly love to react to with a brief description in parenthesis: 1. Slam (a masterpiece pop Jazz instrumental full of funk and energy) 2. Benny (best instrumental ballad EVER) 3. Camel Island (Caribbean Island feel nice) 4. Maputo (a simple but Grammy award winning song with Bob James) 5. So Good (vocals Al Jarreau with David on sax) 6. JT (smooth mid tempo classic) 7. DSP (bad ass harmonized wind instruments with great arrangement) 8. Missing You (another great ballad) As a bonus react to Andy Snitzer and his song called You've Changed. This song is the only other song that challenges David Sanborn's work. Andy annihilated almost everyone with this masterpiece instrumental song.

You're right, while I love this song, Camel Island for me by far showcases his unique talent to breathe life into every note played. Whenever I hear Camel Island I can literally hear camels walking and while they walk along picturing them in my mind. I still listen to Camel Island ❤❤❤❤❤❤
