It's insane how everything he's worked on is nothing short of extraordinary, especially the wire and generation kill imo. He and the team he's assembled are just geniuses

David Simon is an amazing writer and producer for the modern age. He doesn't shy away from the truth. I hope he continues to influence the public in his own way.

I admire some of Simon's work and I enjoyed the 6 part mini series We Own This City and while the so called war on drugs has been a failure I still don't want heroin and cocaine to suddenly become legal and be some easily accessible commodity and the US is never going to allow that. Also Police corruption and abuse can't be blamed entirely on the drug war. It's more complex than that.

It’s actually not more complex than that. Do some research on when the drug war started and when police stopped solving real crimes and you will be shocked. It’s crazy how it is a direct connection to making police lazy and just go for drug arrests instead of solving actual crimes that we want police to solve.

@@westonvanranke I've done plenty of research and reading on all types of crime. Go read the book Savage City by TJ English. Police have had corruption problems way before the drug war . Also Simon made a statement in one of his lectures that if he was on a jury for a non violent drug arrest he does not need to hear the evidence he's voting not guilty. That's fuqen ridiculous !! So... what? if police get intel that some guy has major weight in cocaine & heroin and they get a warrant and seize the drugs in his house we're supposed to let some piece a shit dealer walk so he can sell it and become rich ? FuQ that ! Simon is a smart guy and makes great TV but he's not qualified to make judgements and decisions on a national scale .

@@ivandesantis858 I didn’t say police haven’t always been corrupt, I said they used to solve real crimes. There are so many holes in your logic that I literally don’t have the time to argue about all of it. And you’re one example of a guy moving major weight is an example that very rarely happens cause police usually only get street level guys and those are the guys that pay the cost. If drugs were legal you wouldn’t have shady people controlling it like you do now. It’d be like alcohol in liquor stores
@ivandesantis8582 жыл бұрын
@@westonvanranke And I don't have time for the ridiculous holes in your logic. Yeah go ahead make heroin & cocaine readily available like a cigarette machine and watch what happens. Sorry you have no answer to the valid example I gave but you're like the people screaming in protests what do we want ? Justice ! When do we want it ? Now. Well you're not going to get it now because our justice system is complex and is not Usain bolt it moves more like a snail and it's designed that way for a reason and we're not just going to abandon laws because David Simon thinks we should equate every damn city in the US to one as screwed up as Baltimore.
