In his book he said as a child he was afraid to leave the house. Never learned to drive and was often extremely late. He didn't want to hang out with Spade because of social anxiety. So he waited until 3am and made a joke out of it.

​@@garlottos i think he was insinuating that he was repressing the memories after the horrific. hence "i have no memory of lighting the tool shed on fire, or shooting the shotgun at the tool shed"(from memory so not entirely correct.) or the part in that chapter about him fearing old jack would come back to life. what was interesting was his repeat claim of old jack being "the best man he ever knew" and it did not fit as sarcasm.

I got to see him live and he is by far the funniest comedian I've ever seen and probably will ever see in person. He was doing stuff that would get most people canceled today but he could give a flying F*#k! He's an absolute legend.
