It’s right up there with “Doc, she’s choking.” I think Norm’s greatest talent was making people laugh at things they didn’t want to laugh at. It's the purest and highest form of comedy, to make someone genuinely laugh while also making them uncomfortable. He did it to Conan a lot.

Norm MacDonald was heavily influenced by many folks, including David Letterman, whose wont is to slip in inside jokes that the home audience does not know into much of his humor (the studio audience and/or the crew or guests might be in on David's extra jokes).
