This film is incredible. It's such an intimate and personal account of his life. I feel almost honoured to be granted a glimpse into the depths of who he is. Thank you for posting this video....and thank you David for sharing these pieces of what you so special. Namaste

Love this video and seeing David, Ingrid and their cute daughters. Very sweet and inspirational despite the fact they're no longer together. Better to have lost in love than never to have loved at all as Annie Lennox/Eurythmics sang.

Good for David, his neighbors most likely had no clue that they shared the same location with one of the greatest living Poets on the planet. Kinda sad...

If you read the Mick Karn book you will understand that David made all the money from Japan and the rest of the band mates made zero!!changes your opinion to read what really went on.I am personally happy that Richard has done so well with Porcupine T maybe he will be the most commercially successful member of Japan how strange that would be!

IMO the last few years of 20th century was the best period of his life, musically and personally. He made the best music then, lived with the beautiful woman and lovely kids. He is not that happy any more...

Virgin didn't dump him. He decided to leave Virgin, because he knew they wouldn't be happy with Blemish, as it was not exactly 'X-Factor money making' type. It took lots of guts to leave the security of a major label for the sake of wanting to make such a non-commercial album, but so honest and pure. Not many people can understand an artist who is not money-orientated. Althought they can understand Simon Cowel and even admire his fortune-making flair.

David is brilliant, elegent as always. I have never understood his falling for women with a big mole on their face and far less intellegent , talented, interesting ot as sophisticated as he is. One could think it is insecurity, but I think it is something else. It was so obvious Ingrid wouldnt hold him for long even with kids, and Yuku Fuji is still around working on this viedo? Oh well, sdavis is too clever for some of us.

colinh1999, I didn't mean the other members of Japan. I love those guys, they are pure, genuine musicians and like Sylvian, they didn't jump on the commercial bandwagon either. I think Mick Karn should be a lot more appreciated than he is. Whose fault is this? The music industry maybe? I don't know, I only now that all these guys deserve so much more.

Great Film. I love "Dead Bees on a Ckae". But I thought that "Godman" was a por choice for a single. With songs like "Wanderlust" and "Darkest Dreaming" why would you choose "Godman"? I don't hate Godman, but I don't love it either...

yes I would love to see Mick more successful new Album out March! , Porcupine Tree with Richard will be big soon, already cult status without the main stream, Steve will always been in demand. I think at some stage if Sylvian stops being scared of touring , a very small and select dates Japan reformation would be very well supported event across Europe and Japan. Hey ho you never know!

@colinh1999 That's the thing! I'm convinced it was 2 put an end 2 the pretense, as much as anything else, that Sylvian split Japan. I do feel that almost immediately post Japan, Sylvian started stripping away the excess, both visual and musical, bit by bit. Unfortunately has never quite managed 2 lose the affected voice and is never going to change his surname back from Sylvian 2 Batt! Would recommend listening 2 Secrets of the beehive LP. If u don't like this, then he's probably not for you.

@MisAnnThorpe yes got the album best track forbidden colours again music by someone else, he does work better with other people. What was your opinion of the RTC album? to me blackwater sounded wonderful as good as any he had done before or since, the rest of the album was fragmented but could have been a good project if developed as part of more work in progress who knows.

Lets not split hairs eh!? Annie still sang the lyric regardless of who wrote it originally. But thanks for educating me. Shakespeare's everywhere. All's well that ends well. Peace.

@colinh1999 Nostalgia aside, assuming there was any real possibility of a Japan reunion, how desirable would it b anyway? I still love Japan but with age, have come 2 realize how important a part image played 2 the detriment of the music. Lyrically, with very few exceptions they r quite weak, not particularly distinguishable from any number of Bowie influenced bands. I think it no coincidence that Ghosts is the only Japan song included in Trophies: the lyrics of D Sylvian & still performed live.

@kazuyohorie I may be a superficial person, but there isnt much one can say about women like Yuku or Chavez with depth of a quick sand that isnt going to be superficial at any level. "We do the same thing day after day until finally we dont know the purpose of human life is"...I suppose you have to have a depth of a black hole to see the wisdom of her narrative.

@ariesscorpiorising , You are as insightful as Ingrid on matters (basically total babble) and so your knowledge of David's genital preferences must have come from experience rather then any logical, observational deductions. I am still trying to figure out in what universe what I had said has anything to do with your comment

@colinh1999 Sylvian always employs fine musicians, unfortunately he's rarely given the other ex Japan members the credit they deserve or trusted in their judgement. No doubt this caused problems during recording of RTC LP. Sylvian unwilling to share control, again! Felt the LP, Pocket full of change, Every colour you are & Blackwater excepted, a missed opportunity. Personally, I felt the re-recorded and vastly inferior version of FC didn't belong on SOTB. It was actually replaced on reissue.

seems to me that he is going down a very deep artistic tunnel and he is too far down to admit its not working out... time is the true test of what is a good piece of music and time is smiling on japan.

@MisAnnThorpe Japan did have some merits I thought the musicianship was great at the time and now it does still sounds different to any thing else that was about then. As for Mr Sylvian basically more Bryan Ferry than Bowie with one of Andy Warhols wigs with his name taken from the New York Dolls hardly original was it!As you say lyrically weak ...probably ..would I see a reformed Japan ...yes! Would I pay to see solo Sylvian gig ? NO just a bit too pretentious.

if he hadn't kept up with that false singing voice, which wasn't his real voice, he may have gone on to be legendary, unfortunately, he made his own bed for himself by not being believable in any way and laughed at by the great and good of the music industry....now if only he had been a leonard cohen fan and seen how the natural voice develops through time...............
