David Sylvian - 'Pulling Punches' live at the Royal Festival Hall London Nov 4th 1995

I've looked for this on youtube for ages with no joy so now I'm uploading it myself. this was the first time that I saw Sylvian live and was totally blown away. this was the last encore and in my opinion is a superb rendition of 'Pulling Punches'. an audience recording so obviously the quality is poor but is still such a great souvenir of the night (for me if no one else). peace and love. enjoy x

Brilliant Trees is a truly wonderful album. Felt devastated when Japan broke up, but we didn’t have too long to wait for BT. Thank you so much for posting.

Totally agree~ I feel ashamed as I didn't realize Dave IS such a cool guitarist, he's so underrated in this regard.

Yes, considering that he played rhythm guitar on every Japan album as well, they have a lot of cool riffs and the sort. I have been informed that he also played the rhythm and lead guitar parts on Art Of Parties off of Tin Drum! Dont know whether its true or not though.

I attended this gig with a close friend who is a fan of Sylvian, I'd never heard of his music before and was blown away. David is now my favourite artist and I have seen him perform at every opportunity since, this was still the most spiritual though. I have this concert on tape and need to transfer to digital. x

It's irrelevant, if anyone is listining to this all through then your called Pre WWW fans, the days I smuggled a recorder into Manchester apollo, Lancaster uni, they were called Bootlegs and you took a huge gamble,, caught recording, you were ejected, caught on entry, you were catching the early train,,, as fans you'd waited for the gig and were so desperate to relive the night, so as for audio, this in my ears is no diff to AAC HD.... Amazing, thanks for sharing your night 🙏🙏🇬🇧

@a Both are great albums, i like pretty much everything that David Sylvian has made. His last album was a hard listen the first time around.

It's just annoying for DS fans as well as the genius, Robert Fripp, he has so so much unreleased material he never put together, not that Mr Fripp is moaning, but ££, Who doesn't never need it, I mean David ain't a healthy man, the chances of ever seeing him live are very very slim, he's more of a recluse, his split from Ingrid Chavez, he picked his self up, but I'd pay 1k pounds for 1 more night watching my hero play, I'm more of a Japan fan than DS solo, but Brilliant Trees tour was imo the best ever as a solo artist I've seen,,, as for my ist gig, it was at Liverpool empire in 1979, I think every gig outta my 17 in total I saw Japan, the one that sticks out is The final night, Hammersmith, the gig we all thought was Japan bowing prematurely out in The UK,,, then Napier Bell did a Malcom Mclaren, ended the tour in Budukan,,,, and he made more yen than the band. But I hope we hear music, forget books, photos, that's for armchair Sundays,,, I wished the amount of comments and views on any Japan, or DS solo videos would comment towards @davidsylvian.net twitter page, we need to get this amazing material he wrote with Robert Fripp released 🙏🙏🇬🇧
