Mr. Walker has a velvet tone. He says more with less notes. By picking close to the fretboard, he gets a warm tone, and his vibrato and subtle bends are distinctive and heartfelt. Very musical and listenable, not one ounce of trying to show off.

Update: I just listened to the Jackson Five version of "Never Can Say Goodbye", and within the first four bars I heard the unmistakable sound of David T. Walker's guitar. It was the distinctive, lush chords with hammer ons and pull offs that caught my ear. You can hear this sound right here in the intro to Lovin' You. Also, listen to Stanley Turrentine's "Pieces of Dreams." David T.'s sound jumps right out. When it's all said and done, that's the mark of a master. And Mr. David T. Walker is a master!

I am Grateful that you feel this is the most beautiful pieces of guitar work. I can only say, through Adversity and then understanding Love & Tolerance, it comes out of the air with spontaneous Creativity, long time thought and playing around in the Minor key of "A" as the center tonality. Doing my best to harmonize dissonance to show that there can be Beauty. It is a matter of arranging the sounds to make them pleasing and mindful of what is going on in my life. Thank you for being interested!

Incredible playing Mr Walker. I love the Curtis mayfield hammer on signature sound you possess. As someone who's spent years trying to become a master at jazz standards, your playing opens me up to a whole different approach to melody and lead playing. It seems your focus is on space, dynamics, touch, & soul, not mindless arpeggios and how impressive you can sound on the instrument. You are one of the most honest players I've ever heard.

@@MrDavidTWalker , I can't tell you how amazing I find your playing. I'm a huge advocate of yours, especially to younger musicians who already have good technique but need to learn how to let ideas breathe. I just want you to know there are a lot of players and music appreciators out there who dig what you do. The melodic connection of your playing is incredibly "vocal" and the way you use technique to support the idea rather than fitting ideas around technique is truly the work of a master. Thanks for all the work you do. I hope you have as much fun doing it as we do listening. Cheers.

Hello. I’m a fellow guitarist who has played with artists such as Sting, Chaka, Macy Gray and others. Last night I was listening to “You Sure Love To Ball” and thought: “I’ve heard this song so many times but never noticed until right now how incredible and interesting that guitar player is”. I picked up my 🎸 and set to figuring out the parts (if you could tell me what that C chord is that leads to the Fmaj7 in the verse I’d be very grateful 😆 maybe a Sus4?) Such beautifully brilliant playing! The parts could stand on their own yet they simultaneously support Marvin’s vocal so perfectly. I HAD to know who played on this smooth & sensual classic! Did some online research and voila! David T. Walker! Immediately added to my list of favorite guitarists!
